IELTS Speaking Sample Answer # Abroad Study

Given below are questions that are generally asked in the follow up questions,  i.e. is the section 3 of the speaking test related to study abroad.

How do you think that studying abroad is different from studying in one’s own country?

I think both emotional and logical factors come into picture while differentiating the two. Firstly, in abroad one rarely has any relatives or immediate family and they are on their own. This makes students more responsible as well as independent. They learn how to take decisions and more importantly face problems. Secondly, the curriculum of developed countries is more often updated as compared less developed or developing countries. This helps students to benefit better. Finally, while studying overseas universities students can learn about different custom, culture and tradition.

What problems do you think students can face while studying abroad and why?

I think problems happen when things are not planned enough well. So, for instance, some people cannot bare too much of cold but without knowing the weather conditions of a country they go for studying there during winters. This causes issues for them. Even more, not planning for the course well before hand is another factor troubling people. Example, people take up any course in a university without knowing much details about it, but when studying it, they realize the nity gritty of it and tend to land themselves in trouble. However, other problems being faced are home sickness, I think, language barriers is the other issue, for some even food.

But I think one is determined the issues seem small.

Do you think you will have many difficulties adapting to new culture?

I guess it would not be much difficult for me to adapt to a new culture as I am already exposed to diverse customs and cultures in my home country. Having said that, adapting to a new culture is always a little bit difficult, especially if it is very different from your home town culture but I have read about the traditions of the country. And I hope that nothing would be shocking for me.

IELTS Speaking Sample Answer # Country

Given below are questions that can be asked in the follow up round of the speaking section.

Tell me about the problems your country is facing at present.

India being the largest democracy, is quite difficult to handle sometimes. Although the government tries to maintain law and order, some discrepancies tend to happen. As a citizen, I think, unequal development, corruption and brain drain are some of most staggering issues the country is facing right now.

On behalf of government what has been done?

The government has surely taken some positive initiatives to handle these issues. For instance, there is this Make In India project which has demanded companies all over the world to manufacture in India. The second initiative taken is of Digital India, under which the villages and cities are going to get linked with internet and people will have access to it. Even more, there have been several attempts by the prime minister to meet the NRI to convince that there are opportunities in the country as well.

But with documentation, we have always been sound. I wish that this time the implementation goes well too.

How successful would you say these measures had been?

The country after a very long time given majority to a government and they have been working since past one year. These initiatives have surely helped convince the citizens that the chosen candidate is doing work. Also a shift in the mindset of people is seen, but we all are still waiting for the fruits of the seeds.

How do you think things are going to change in the future?

We hope that with the right implementation, the problem will be solved in the next few years. The steps have been powerful and we are noticing some progress. So, we can definitely be positive and wait for glorious days. But, the only thing that seems to me as obstacle is the hunger for power among the political leaders. This tends to often degrade the great intiatives they take.
