IELTS Speaking Part I Sample Questions # Toy

Growing up is the most beautiful thing about life because when you grow up you start understanding things in a more beautiful way. However, we still cherish our childhood as the best part of our lives. This time we are looking at something without which our childhood can never be complete, toys.

Did you like toys as a child?

As a child, when everyone else was fascinated by toys, I preferred playing with my friends rather than toys. Yes, I did like toys but not to an extent where I could spend my days with the toy.

What was your favorite toy?

Growing up Barbie has been one of the most sought after toy of our generation and I was no exception to it. I loved Barbie and the little amazing thing called Barbie house. I remember a friend of mine had the largest collection of Barbie and Barbie houses. We friends would go to her house and play with them. Dress the barbie for a party and so much more!

Should parents buy many toys for their children?

Toys surely are important for children but I think parents must focus more on getting sports equipment for their children rather than toys. Learning a sport teaches so much more to a child than a toy can ever do. A sport offers a child learnings like a team player, leadership, focus, patience, hard work and so much more! Or probably some other artistic form like guitar or painting. For a child, it is important that he or she works on his or her extracurricular activities more than anything else.

What are the benefits of children playing with toys?

Toys have an impact on children like no other thing. A baby is curious to learn about the world around them and they have so much to learn. Every new shape and color and the voice teach a lot of things to the infants. Different contrasting colors develop the vision and toys like building blocks help in hand-eye coordination. Growing up there are toys like letters and the one on language skills, that help a child in improving more.

What are the disadvantages of children playing with toys?

Toys do make children learn a lot of things but in turn having less number of toys is more beneficial than having lots of them. With fewer toys, a child learns to use his or her imagination to make games.Children with fewer toys establish better social skills. They learn how to share and develop a greater love for reading, writing, and art. Also, a child with fewer toys is more likely to be less selfish because he or she knows that they are not getting everything!

IELTS Speaking Part I Questions # Visiting Home

Human is a social animal and likes to mingle with people. There are a lot of friends and acquaintances that we make and do visit their homes in the tenure of relationships that we form. This time we are looking into some Part I questions related to visiting homes of our loved ones.

Do you often invite friends to visit your home?

I am a working professional and the few friends that I do have in the city, the invitation is never very formal for the friends that I have. It is more like having a common interest and doing it at either of the places. Inviting friends to come visit home is not a common thing that I do, more often because we stay together for the most part in the office.

Do you like visitors coming to your home?

I do love people coming to my home and meeting but only to an extent where I don’t find any hindrance in my daily routine. For example, someone coming at 6’o clock in the morning could be sometimes irritating especially when done regularly. Also, there are few people who are close to my heart, I don’t bother much about their coming and visiting often, but I prefer fewer acquaintances visiting home.

How often do visitors come to your home?

Well, most of the friends that I have made are men and the place where I am presently living does not allow men in the house. So, we don’t have much of visitors in the house. But, yes sometimes when it is a special occasion people do come in and we celebrate together.

Do you prefer to have friends visit you or relatives?

I like friends more because there is a comfort zone with friends that I do not find in relatives. Friends know us more and there is nothing to pretend. With relatives, there are basic etiquettes to be maintained and be the host. With friends it is more like, it is their home as well, so less of formalities. However, with anyone visiting it is always a change, something I do prefer.

What do you usually do together with your visitors?

Most of the times we go out travel and explore the city. I remember, last time when a friend of mine came to visit me, we went to Konark temple and had lots of fun there. Other times, we sit down at home only, cook good food and spend quality time. So, it is mostly a mix bag of both, travelling and laying back.

When someone visits you, how do you show hospitality?

It depends on the time till they have come. If it is the small visit of few hours, I usually ensure they get to eat good and have a good time, talking together. But, if they are staying back for few days, I ensure they get good food and nice sleep. More importantly, make sure they do get to visit the place I am living in. I ensure they don’t have a problem commuting in the city and take back home some memories to cherish.

IELTS Speaking Part I Questions # Robots

We are in living in times when technology has advanced to an extent where machines are now able to do almost everything. The human effort has reduced and people predict automation taking away a lot of jobs. This time we are looking at some questions asked in a recent IELTS speaking exam in Part I related to robots and relationships.

Do you think robots are becoming more common in society nowadays?

We are surely moving towards a society that will be entirely dependent on robots. In present times, however, I think yes robots are becoming common but still, the society in large is still not very comfortable using robots as human robots. For instance, we do have driverless cars but the trust on them is yet to be built. There are people trying but it will take some time before robots become part of our lives.

What do you think about cars driven by robots?

Driverless cars are becoming the talk of the town for sure and in my belief, they surely are the future of our society. In terms of its limitations, I think with them, the man might surely become lazier. However, on its positives, people with special gifts could be able to drive a car and go to places. Even more, it will become easier for the old people to commute. But, it will take some time for these cars to mature to avoid accidents and build their trust.

Do you enjoy going out with your friends?

Surely I do. I love going out with my friends to unknown places and spending time with them, figuring out how things are. It is always amazing to have road trips with them and then pull each other’s legs!!

What kind of things do you usually do when you go out with your friends?

Most of the times we all go out for a movie or to a location we have never been. We sometimes even have dinner but I think the best times that we have together is on each other’s house. We are usually laughing off at our problems and then disussing the serious things in our life in a joking way.

How important is to have good friends? Why?

I believe it is very important to have good friends in our life. There are very few people who can become our best friends or soul mates, but it is important to have certain good friends. I think life becomes much more beautiful when you have good friends to share your moments with. The moments could be of joy or sorrow. Living life as an individual is good but when you have people to share it with, it becomes better.
