The Sentence: Types and Questions

Example-:

  • The sun sets in the west.
  • India is the second most populated country of the world.
  • How are you?
  • May I talk to you?
  • Can you please, close the door?

The above are examples of a sentence. A sentence is a group of words that makes complete sense.
TYPES OF SENTENCE

DECLARATIVE SENTENCE
A sentence that declares or states something is called Declarative or Assertive sentence.
For example-:

  • Sun rises in the east.
  • India won the world cup in 2011.
  • Moon revolves around the earth.
INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE
A sentence that asks a question, is called an interrogative sentence
For example-:

  • What kind of books do you like to read?
  • What do you do in your idol time?
  • Are you applying for general or academic?
IMPERATIVE SENTENCE
A sentence that expresses a command or request or a desire or an appeal is called an Imperative sentence.
For example-:

  • Please, close the door. //request
  • Get out of the room. //command
  • God, give me good marks in this exam. //desire
  • Help me, universe. //appeal
EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE
A sentence that expresses a strong or sudden feeling is called exclamatory sentence.
For example-:

  • What a shame!
  • I just won the lottery!
  • Wow, you look pretty!

While writing sentence a there are certain rules that need to be considered-:

  1. A sentence always begins with a capital letter.
  2. A declarative or imperative sentence always has a full stop (.) in the end.
  3. A question mark (?) is placed at the end of an interrogative sentence.
