Answer – A law that I truly appreciate is the Right to Education Act, which was enacted in
India in 2009. It ensures that children between the ages of 6 and 14 receive free and
compulsory education.
I consider this law extremely important because education shapes not just an individual’s
future, but also the progress of a country. In the past, many children, especially from
economically weaker sections were unable to attend school due to financial constraints. This
law addressed that issue by making it the government’s responsibility to ensure that every
child has access to basic education.
What stands out to me is how this law promotes equality. It creates a level playing field by
giving all children, regardless of their background, an opportunity to learn and develop.
Another positive aspect is that it helps curb child labour, as more children are now enrolled in
schools instead of entering the workforce at an early age.
As far as its impact is concerned, I think it has played a significant role in improving literacy
rates and raising awareness about the value of education. That said, there are still gaps in
implementation, particularly in rural and underdeveloped areas. Even so, I believe it has
made a meaningful difference by empowering the younger generation and contributing to
long-term social development.
