Sample Answer

India is a populous country. So, gridlock is pretty common here. A few weeks ago, one fine morning on my way to work, I was stopped by the huge crowd of vehicles honking consistently. Initially, I could not understand what was going on at the time, but, after waiting for half an hour, I came to know that a severe road accident took place on the site between a truck and a motorbike. The person driving the bike was deeply injured and bleeding heavily. Meanwhile, the roadways authority was trying to handle the issue and helped the victim by filing an FIR against the rash truck driver.

While I was waiting there behind the long queue of vehicles I made a phone call to the manager and informed her about the situation. Firstly, I thought that she might get a little upset and make a fuss about it because, she is the one who had to deal with the boss, but then she empathised with me and gave me a half an hour relaxation.

After waiting for half an hour, the traffic congestion finally got cleared and subsequently, people started moving and rushing towards their workplace. I, somehow, managed to make my way as well and reached office. I felt that traffic congestion is one of the major concerns of the twenty first century, and every year globally, millions of individuals die in road accidents. I realised the major cause behind this was the narrow roads, followed by poor management skills by the concerned authorities. It is very important that one should make use of more and more public transportation rather than ,solely, depending on their own private vehicles.
Thus, this was a time when i was stuck in the traffic jam and was late to work.

Yes, it definitely is. India is a country with a population of approximately 1.2 billion netizens. So, it is something that people very commonly face in their daily lives especially in metropolitan cities, such as, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and other developing cities. I think the part of the reason can also be the lack of parking space in cities. As a result, people park their vehicles on the roads itself. Thus, gridlock is a very common problem in Indian cities.

Q2. What can be done to improve traffic conditions in India ?
There are a plethora of things that can be done to improve the traffic conditions in cities. First of all, development of more and more quick and cheaper public transport like buses, metros and many more. Second of all, implementation of strict traffic rules followed by stringent action against those who break the law. They should also be charged with heavy penalty for the same. Furthermore, seminars and awareness programmes should be conducted regularly, so as to make people aware about the vitality of following traffic rules.
