IELTS SPEAKING CUE CARD: A VISIT TO A QUIET PLACE, IELTSBAND7, DEHRADUN

Sample Answer

As I travel frequently, I was able to avail the opportunity to visit a quiet place in my country. I shall be discussing about this exotic place in detail as I found it to be extremely peaceful, soothing and serene. The place is located in Tawang which is in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal is also known as the Land of Rising Sun and is situated at the altitude of around 10000 feet.
One has to travel a long distance and it takes three days to reach there from Delhi. Initially I boarded a three hours flight from Delhi to reach Guwahati. Since there is no further flight connectivity, for further journey, I commenced my movement by road to reach midway by evening. Third day before dawn, I started again to reach my destination.
The very next day I decided to trek my way to a monastery as I was keen to witness its beauty. My friends who had visited Arunachal advised me to visit it.
The local name of the monastery is Gumpha and it is located at a Hill Top. There is a treacherous track to reach the place. As I reached there, I was thrilled by the solace which I found in this place. There was no other inhabitation and construction .A stream was flowing next to it which added to the beauty and splendor of that architectural masterpiece. I could hear the chirping birds and noise of breeze .I appreciated the Monastery’s peculiar pagoda kind of construction.
The atmosphere was full of warmth and had a magical affect on my mind. After spending three days I reached back rejuvenated and full of energy. The memories of this quaint place are still fresh in my mind.

A prerequisite condition to start a relationship is to first initiate a dialogue. A healthy communication involves both listening and speaking. Some people are reserved and talk less ,whereas others are big mouthed. In order to maintain a healthy mind, we must share our thoughts and feeling with others. It also improves your bond with others, and encourages them to listen to you.

As a teenager, I was very shy and unable to express myself. Suddenly, I met the most talkative person of my life who completely changed me. She was my colleague and became my best friend in no time. I had heard that opposite attracts but I started believing in this after meeting her. We are still best friends.

Though, she looks very arrogant and pretentious, but actually she is outspoken and helpful. My friend is always ready to start a conversation with anyone about anything. She believes that whatever she knows is important and must be shared with others. We never have any  misunderstanding between us because she tries her best to explain every small detail. She finds talking is the best medicine to beat stress and anxiety. Due to her habit of talking, she is notable to many and has a large group of friends. Being with her, I have learnt the importance of talking to feel happy and confident.

To conclude, since, we know excess of everything is bad .Therefore, over communication sometimes makes a person deviate from the main topic of discussion. People ignore loquacious people as they do not listen and only talk. I believe, we must not impose our thoughts on others but should also listen to others.

IELTS Speaking Part I Sample Questions # Walk

Walking is one of the best ways to stay fit, especially for those who don’t find time for exercising. However, for some people, it is a part of their daily routine while others do it only if they have a spare time for it. Jogging and brisk walking are popularly followed by people interested in fitness. Moreover, walking is also one of the best stress busters as it helps in reducing anxiety and fatigue as well. This time we are looking at some of the questions related to walking that can be asked in IELTS Speaking.

IELTS Speaking Part I Sample Questions # Walk

Question 1: Do you like to walk?
Answer:  I like taking long walks with my friends and sometimes alone as well. Apart from the many health benefits that it has, walking helps me to relax and spend quality time with my people. Also, it saves fuel expenses.

Question 2: Do you like to walk on your own or with others?
Answer: I usually prefer walking alone as it allows me to manage my own pace. I find it as an excellent way of keeping my body fit and also reducing the mental stress. However, I do go for walks with my family members or friends sometimes, especially to spend quality time with them.

Question 3: Would you say that your city is a good place for walking?
Answer A: Yes certainly, my city has many well-maintained parks, public lawns and pedestrian paths which make it ideal for walking.

Answer B: Not really. I live in a metropolitan city so there are very few places to walk. Nearby parks are the most popular places for walking, exercising or practising yoga/meditation.

Question 3: Do people in your country walk a lot?
Answer: Well, people residing in cities really don’t walk too much as they usually travel long distances in routine. However, the ones living in countryside walk a lot within their vicinity. The city residents consider walking as a fitness medium and prefer early morning walks.

Question 4: Do you think walking is important?
Answer: Yes, I think walking is the best and the simplest way to stay fit in today’s busy life. People hardly have time to exercise and on top of that most of the jobs are limited to the desk. Hence regular walking is indeed very important.

Question 5: Do you think walking in the countryside is better than walking in the city?
Answer: Yes, walking in the countryside is definitely better than walking in the city. The greenery and fresh air that you can enjoy in the countryside is scarce in the crowded cities. Plus, rural areas are more peaceful and pollution-free which makes them perfect for long walks.

Question 6: What could be done to improve the experience of walking in cities?
Answer: Actually a lot can be done to improve the walking experience in the cities like planting more trees, constructing parks and separate lanes for walkers all across. Moreover, there could be special walking zones with no vehicles allowed during some hours of the day.

IELTS Speaking Sample Questions # Ideal House

SAMPLE ANSWER

I currently live in an apartment with two rooms and a kitchen and although I like my house, I would love to move into a cottage in the near time. The idea of living in a cottage in the countryside, truly makes me feel excited about life. The cool breeze, the no traffic, the less stress and the beauty around to savor.

Being brought up in different parts of the country and having lived in Dehradun for around 6 years, it is in the hills that I find my solace. So, my cottage will definitely be in either Almora or the hills of Mussoorie. It will be a cottage with two floors. On the ground floor will be three rooms, where I will be living with my family and on the first floor, I would love to have two rooms. One of them will be a study room and the other will be a library.

I would love to decorate it with all the things that I have collected over a period of time traveling across the country. There are some paintings and then some of them are the collages of different pictures collected, some are memories of people I met. I want my cottage to have all of the memories of people I have met in my life. I want to share my life with my husband and my parents. It would be great fun for all of our families to live together in a beautiful house and make our own living.

House is the most important part of our lives and having the house of my dreams along with the people I love the most, that will definitely be life for me.

PART 3
What kind of home do most people in your country live in?

Our country has a diverse section of people living across, from different geographical backgrounds, people all over the country live in different kinds of home. People living in urban areas tend to live in apartments, while those living in rural areas, can either live in cottages or semi-detached house or a terraced house.

Do you think moving to a new home can bring problems to people?

Shifting is always a problem and involves a lot of things that need to be taken care of. But, if they are not taken care of properly, they tend to cause issues like management and adjustments. Some people face issues because they are not able to adjust to their new house. Or the new people around them!

Do you think people in your country like to live with their parents?

Most people in my country love to live with their parents, but then with the new generation and the concept of modernization and westernization creeping in, there are some people who tend to not live with their parents. They want to enjoy their own freedom and become more independent. Our country is seeing this shift, with more and more people moving towards the independent life style, whereas there are many who deep rootedly wish to live with their parents.
