Help From Friend # Letter For IELTS

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.
You will be away from the town for a month and a friend has agreed to look after your house when you will be away. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter –

  • give contact details for when you are away.
  • give instructions on how to look after your pet.
  • describe other house hold duties.

You should write at least 150 words.

Sample Answer

Dear Rathore,

Hope you are doing great and thank you once again for agreeing to take care of my house, for the next month. You have no idea, how much grateful I am for your kind help.

Although, there won’t be any major issues , if any arises you can contact me at my email id or call me at 0123-234564. The necessary food for the dog is kept in the cupboard left to the fridge. You can easily find it in the second shelf. Tommmy (the dog) is usually tied in the staircase but a morning and evening walk is must for him. Also, he takes bath every Sunday, which if missed could land him to the doctor. You are always welcome to use the fridge, foods, TV and other facilities I have at my home.

Also, there are few (around ten) plants in my garden, please do water them everyday, as I have worked really hard on them. Please switch on the garage lights after sun set and turn it off in the morning. Also, pick up the newspaper from the lawn.

For the past one year, you were a member of a local club, but now you wish to discontinue with the membership.

Write a letter to the manager. In your letter,

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in regard to cancel my membership at Gymkhana Public English club.

I enrolled in the club, last year in March and have been paying the monthly fees of Rupees 500. The club has benefited me in several ways by giving numerous opportunities to explore myself. The hesitation of speaking in English that was there initially,got replaced by the confidence of speaking English fluently.

Sadly, given my circumstances, the membership at the club needs to be discontinued. The reason is a great assignment opportunity that has come my way, requiring my undue attention for the next year. Thus, I would no longer be able to attend any activities held in this place. If I am not mistaken, my Rupees 4700 deposit will be returned to me upon membership cancellation.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in regard to the information required regarding scholarships provided at Post Graduate Level in Oxford University.

The university has selected me for the post graduate course on Liberal Arts, starting from 6th December. Recently, a letter arrived at my doorstep, from the university, stating that the cost of the course is $ 50000, which is five hundred thousand in my currency.

Although, I had my savings but the fee is way beyond the money in my bank account. I am very much interested in enrolling for this course and would like to know if there are any scholarships available. Also, what is the criteria for the scholarship.

ANSWER (Band 7.5 Level):
Dear Rebecca,

I would like to appreciate your decision of learning to drive. There will be a whole new start of your life after that.
If I start up with the paybacks of having a driving license, the list will go endless. The first and foremost thing is that you will feel self-dependent this way. Neither you will feel restricted nor the oddities of public transport will bother you. Moreover, you can save your precious time.
As you have asked about a driving school, here is one I would like to suggest. Success Driving School will be my first advice as this is recognized as one of the most renowned driving school in New Delhi. They have a well organized training program and flexible timings. More importantly, their trainers are truly professional. You will get the best out of your bucks.
Firstly, for theoretical exam, it would be a great idea to purchase a traffic rule guide published by City Traffic Control Police. Secondly, I would advice you to keep a first aid box handy.
