Childhood is the most amazing stage, I believe, because you can do a lot mischiefs and people just overlook them. I have been a very mischievous kind of a girl childhood days. I remember, my mother had a beautiful garden and she was in love with her plants and flowers, like she is now That day, my uncle came for lunch and she was busy with hosting. My younger brother and I were playing in the garden and suddenly a beautiful flower caught my attention.

I don’t know but I just plucked it and my mother saw us doing it. She left all her work and came furiously running towards us. On top of my voice I said run and we both ran and our mother came towards us. Then came a sort of divider and we had to go across it. But, my little brother, who was a child, may be three or four years could not jump. My mother took hold of him and thrashed him badly for plucking the flower and I just ran away and came in the evening, by the time which the matter was solved.

I still remember it, because may be, people have told it to us many times and I also remembered a part of it. It didn’t affected much of my life but it is always fun to talk about it to my younger brother and tease him.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Study Room

Describe your study room.
You must say –
– How it looks?
– How much time you spend in this room?
– How an ideal study room should be?
and give details of your study room?

My study room and living room is the same one and I spend most of my time in this room whenever I am home. It is the largest room of our house and is underground, making it the coolest room of our house. There is a large window in front which gives the city view. The study table is placed in line with the window. The table is very special to me as it was made by my father for me and is quite spacious. To the right of it, is the computer and other hardware and the rest of the space has been devoted to study.

There are three bookshelves that I have, with two having novels and other story books while one has academic books. I prefer reading on desk and make sure that when I sit down to study, I am devoted towards it.

An ideal study room for me would be one with shelves of books surrounding me and a big study table, with lamp and a comfortable chair in between. So, basically it should have lots of books with a don’t disturb be sign outside the door. Because I really don’t like people disturbing while studying. Adding to my fantasy, I would say, may be study room in which no one except me is allowed. Apart from the desk there be a cushy chair, in which I can sit whenever I feel like.

Sample Answer

Every child studies in the school or college, tuitions, and at their homes. There are many places one can choose to study after class to learn and revise. I personally prefer to study indoors due to various reasons. The best place where I can study is a library.

There is a huge library near my house. The place is enormous and is divided into two separate reading halls that can accommodate more than five hundred people at a time. The library houses a large collection of books on every subject along with daily newspapers and magazines from all the leading publications. The building has a lot of amenities such as washrooms, air conditioning, soundproofed walls, and a cafeteria amongst other facilities. I visited here for the first time with my elder sister when I was in the eighth standard. After that, I became a regular visitor due to its close proximity and ease of access. It was the most favourable place for borrowing books and studying.

It offers an affordable membership renewable on a yearly basis. I have availed this membership and spend two hours each day in the library to finish my homework amongst other things. Not only do I complete my assignments and browse the internet, but also read the newspapers, novels and other works of fiction. I feel comfortable in studying here because of the ambience of the place. It is a very peaceful and quiet place with extensive study material. I can completely concentrate on my studies without being distracted by any sort of noises.

IELTS Cue Card # You learned from a member of your family, IELTS BAND7 DEHRADUN

Sample Answer :

I grew up in a small family with 4 members. They are my mother, father, my sister and our dog named Oreo. Because we were so less in number, I got to observe them very closely and I had the opportunity to learn many good things and values from them and it is in fact natural that a kid would learn things from his/her family members.

I picked up strong determination from my mother, reading and artistic abilities from my father, understanding and compassion from my sister and lot of adorable tactics from my dog. I have learned how to handle head-end stress and bad times from my parents. I learnt a lot of things from them, not that other things I learned from other family members are of less importance, but the values that I learned from my parents are different and have had a long lasting impression on me till date.

I find my dad very charming, caring and he holds a great personality and aura. He has been a voracious reader and because of that, he is more learned and wise than people of his age. Initially, I thought that how could he know so much? Over the time I became close to him because of my fascination with stories, and he used to often help me with my studies. He started inspiring me to read novels and books other than my academic ones. He read me stories  with vivid audio change and with a lot of verbal exaggeration and that helped me grow an interest towards books.

I am grateful to him that he so painstakingly explained different topics and help me grow good as a person. Because of his contribution, I have started reading books of different genres whenever I get time which I think is a better investment than spending time idly.

I have carried ahead with passing on this legacy of inspiring the young family members and cousins to read books, I often read them stories which would be interesting to them and give them sweets, candies, ice-cream as a reward on completing the story.

Follow-up Questions:

Q1. Why should we learn from others?
Ans. As a matter of fact we are individuals and everyone of us is different. This gives us ground for learning a lot of new things. It gives us the opportunity to identify our own strengths and accordingly work on the weaknesses. It helps us grow as a human being.

Q2. What are the importance of having friends?
Ans. Friends play a very important role in our lives. They help us to be strong and stay motivated when times are bad. They stand as a never ending support in our lives. I think one should always value friends.
