CUE CARD -Describe a house or an apartment you want to live in

Speaking -Part 2 (Cue Card)

You should say:

  • what it would look like?
  • where it would be located?
  • what facilities this would have?

And explain why you want to live there.

Sample Answer

Home is where the heart is. We all have dreams and things we want from our lives. It’s ok to be materialistic in life and there is no harm in having some luxuries. I was born and raised in a valley surrounded by hills so I’d like my dream house to be ideally located somewhere in between the hills.

The location of the house would be a semi-urban area as certain places in the hills are secluded and there are no facilities available for miles. I’d like my dream home to be located in Mussoorie, a small hill station resting on the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India.

The house would be a medium-sized bungalow with two floors, a front and a back garden and have all the modern-day amenities. The building will be designed as such that all the windows of the bungalow will overlook the Doon valley. The architecture will be of Victorian era as far as the layout is considered, the ground floor will have a spacious living room adjoining a modular kitchen and a bar which will have spirits from different parts of the earth. As the climate remains cool in Mussoorie throughout the year, the windows of the bungalow will be double-glazed to provide insulation to protect us in the harsh cold weather. The upper floor will have a master bedroom and two other bedrooms as well.

As I live in the city so I’ll use this house as a holiday home and to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located in nature’s lap, it will be a perfect relaxation spot. Once in my latter years of life,  I’d like to retire and live a calm and peaceful life in a serene environment.

Sample Answer

In a world, full of many unfortunate and frustrating news, good news is really hard to come by. So, whenever there is any positive news, I always try to cherish it, and today, I’d like to share one such good news, that I heard about a couple of months ago.

The news was about getting a new job. It was certainly a piece of good news because my cousin was searching for a job for a considerable period after finishing university. But, unfortunately, even though, he was getting a lot of interview calls, no company was actually offering him a kind of job where he could fully utilize the skills he had learned. Of course, earlier he had got some job offers from here and there, but he didn’t exactly like those jobs because he was aiming for much better opportunities.

By the way, my cousin is a brilliant student, and he also topped the university, so it is only natural for him that he would aim for better opportunities. Anyway, after trying to find a better job for a long time, he got so frustrated that at some point, he thought of giving up searching for a job and starting some kind of business. But, as an elder sister, it was only me who was asking him to be a little more patient. So, when he got a job offer letter from one of the prestigious private companies in my country, he immediately decided to break this news to me as his priority to give me this news when I was away from town for an important piece of work.

I felt great about that news because it would finally give some hope in life to my beloved cousin. I also felt a little proud of myself because, after all, it was I who convinced him to wait and keep applying for more jobs when he had lost all hope and was impatient because of not getting a job.

CUE CARD – Describe a historic place you know

Speaking -Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a historic place you know

  • What kind of place it is?
  • What does it look like?
  • Where it is?
  • And explain how the place is related to history
Sample Answer

Historic structures serve as a reminder of our rich history and former splendour. Since I was little, I have always been fascinated by history. I used to read a lot and study the history of ancient times. I never pass up the opportunity to tour historical sites. It’s an intriguing encounter. I paid my aunt, who resides in Delhi, a visit last year. I had the chance to explore the Red Fort, one of India’s most popular tourist destinations, there. It is among the world’s seven wonders. It’s a massive red-painted palace. It was our first visit there. The enormous gate that welcomed us was a stunning work of art. Many notable historical buildings remain, including Hira Mahal, Mumtaz Mahal, Rang Mahal, Meena Bazaar, and many more, despite the fact that the majority of buildings are either shattered or severely damaged. With a long history, Meena Bazaar is a well regarded destination for retrophiliac and antiquarian enthusiasts. In the past, it was mostly exclusive to women—royal ladies and noblemen’s wives, to start. It used to happen exclusively on designated days of the week or at significant occasions. Nowadays, Meena Bazar is held every day from the afternoon till the evening, which has somewhat modified the situation. In addition to the massive garden’s doubled attractiveness due to its abundance of seasonal flowers and plants, I also saw a few peacocks. Overall, the Red Fort is a symbol of great Mughal architecture and prowess in the past.
