IELTS Cue Card Sample Questions # Perfect Holiday

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. True it is in all sense. Work is definitely the most important part of our lives but only work often makes our lives dull and mundane. This is the reason most people take holidays, sometimes to spice up there lives and more often to

What would your perfect holiday look like? You should say –

  • where would it be?
  • whom would you go with?
  • how would you spend it?

also, explain, why do you think it would be perfect?

SAMPLE ANSWER ONE

My perfect holiday would most likely be in a snow decked winter
landscape. Somewhere cold, sunny and high up view to behold.

I would go with my sister, she too adores the fresh mountain
air. And I am sure my cousins would love to tag along, together we would be a
really rowdy bunch. We would go skiing, sledging and ice skating. I can just
imagine their faces when they slip up on the ice, me laughing with them.

We would go to the Christmas Carnival and have delicious hot
chocolate while joking about how are feet are going to freeze off. Baking
cookies and watching some movies when it gets too cold out, all huddled up
together. Making blanket forts after long days of snowball fights and building
snowmen are some other things I imagine we
would do.

It would be perfect, because we would all be together, having
the time of our lives as a family. There is nothing more I could ask for.

SAMPLE ANSWER TWO

Holidays have been an important part of my life. Not only do I like giving it to others, I enjoy them for myself as well. They could be either group trips or solo trips. But, my perfect holiday would be on an all India tour all by myself. It has been my dream for a very long time to be able to travel across India and write down the stories of the country. Of meeting new people and getting to know their stories.

I would start off from my base location and move ahead towards the east. Traveling across all the east, and moving towards north, west and then south. It will be all an all travel to the different cities, the major festivals, major temples, and more importantly the common people of the place. I want to meet all those people and then interview them. Get to know their stories and write about it.

If I am able to do this holiday, it would be the best thing to happen to me. Not because, it will be a big one, but because it would be for me a dream come true. Knowing my country, and getting to know its past, present, and future is what makes this holiday perfect for me.

CUE CARD – Describe a time when you lost your way

Speaking -Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a time when you lost your way.

You should say:

    • When and where did it happen?
    • How did you feel when you were lost?
    • How did you find your way out?
With the aid of modern technology, getting anywhere is now pretty simple. However, they cannot always be trusted or depended upon, particularly with the introduction of Google Maps. I once went through a lot of trouble by relying solely on it. I decided to go to Rishikesh alone for the first time. My family and I have visited Rishikesh a few times, so I felt pretty confident that I wouldn’t run into any
problems. Before becoming lost between two roads, I had comfortably finished the first half of the distance. I used Google Maps to help me escape the situation, and it directed me to a mysterious location where I could not see anyone. I was quite terrified and regretted choosing to travel alone.
Fortunately, I came upon a police officer, who assisted me in getting out of the sticky situation. The cop was incredibly polite and generous, and he made sure to deliver me to my destination securely. On that day, I discovered two extremely important lessons: first, one should not always rely on technology, and second, one should be well informed on the routes being travelled.

Sample Answer
I am very fond of watching movies and web series. And, I admire the actors who bring their roles to life. Here, I would like to talk about an actor who I personally admired the most, Sushant Singh Rajput, who has truly impressed me with his acting skills & moreover his humble nature was to die for. Although, he’s not alive now but I still admire his work. In all the roles he has played, it seems like he has become the actual character, living his role to the fullest. I saw his immaculate work in the movie Kai Po Che where he played a lead role showcasing the struggles of a common man affected by 2001 Gujrat earthquake. Another movie in which he played an outstanding role was PK. He even played a lead in a romantic comedy movie Shudh Desi romance. Dhoni biopic, Raabta and Kedarnath proved to be the biggest hits of Sushant Singh in the bollywood movie industry. He gained much fame and recognition after these movies. Sushant Singh Rajput was a talented and promising Indian actor. He comes from a humble background and has faced many struggles in his journey. Most of his movies have been huge suceccess. His death was a heartbreaking incident to the nation but still he is present in our hearts through his spectacular work. Now, whenever I watch any old movies in which he has even a small role, I watch it till the end because of his captivating performance.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Questions # Public Transport

IELTS Cue Card # USED PUBLIC TRANSPORT

We all need to travel everyday to work, to school or college, to meet people or to visit different places. During earlier times, people usually commuted by public modes of transportation partly because only a few owned their personal vehicles and partly due to the fact that these were considered more comfortable and safe. However, in this day and age, not only has the proportion of privately owned vehicles increased enormously, but also there is a common belief that public buses or trains are over- crowded, uncomfortable and unsafe. Certainly, our government is taking all the necessary steps to ensure that the maximum number of people start using public vehicles in order to make our cities pollution free. Let’s consider a cue card asking us to talk about a time when we used public transport.

Describe a visit that you made using public transport. You should say –

  • what was the visit?
  • when did you make?
  • with whom did you make the visit?

also, explain, how was your visit?

Sample Answer One

It’s been a long time since I’ve not been using public modes of transportation on daily basis, except at times when we decide to travel by long distance trains on our holiday trips sometimes .However, there was a time, when I regularly commuted in a “Mumbai local train”, from my home to college every day. Our house was located in a suburb called “Bandra” and my junior college was in town ,”Grant Road” to be precise. The local train took around 45 minutes to cover this distance.
I used to get the monthly pass made for the first class compartment as it was much less crowded than the regular one. I really preferred travelling in the local train as it was the fastest means to cover the distance from home to college. At the same time, it was bang on time, comfortable and safe too. There were separate ladies compartments which were always less crowded than the men’s compartments. Most importantly, it gave me a unique insight into the life in Mumbai- a megacity which is home to people from different regions of this country.
Each day I would see many new faces while travelling. There were people from all walks of life- from students to fisher women and from tourists to local office goers. Sometimes, I would read a newspaper or a book while at others I just gazed out of the window. I even made a few friends in the train, who were regular commuters like me.
Unfortunately, if I ever think of travelling in the local these days, my cousins in Mumbai would call me insane. This infamous local train has the ability to make people shudder merely on the mention of its name. These days, the local trains are extremely overcrowded, the doors never close and passengers are constantly hanging out of them. Luckily, I have all the good memories of my unique travel experience, though I never tried doing that again after finishing my college and moving out of Mumbai. (335 Words)

Sample Answer Two

Being a solo traveler, public transport is the only medium that I confide in the most. It is the safest and one gets to interact with the local people on the bus. I remember visiting Shravanbelagola a few months back and it was on my journey to the place that I extensively used the public transport. Not knowing the places and the language, public transportation really did helped.
It was the time when people all over the country came to the place for the festival of Jains and so the government had also made the arrangements in that manner. I visited the place and on interacting with the locals got to know about the places near by and visited them using the public transport.
It was an amazing experience travelling to the place and although public transport did not made it seem simpler, but sure it made me feel more comfortable and safer. Also, using the public transport never made me feel as if it was a solo trip. I always felt surrounded by people.
