SAMPLE ANSWER
School days have been the best days of my life, and no matter what, I believe we all have memories attached to them. They do bring nostalgic moments to us. I studied in a convent school, and there were many rules, but the one that I did not like was if someone did not have the proper dress, they would be sent out of the assembly and delayed for the first lecture. Our school had prefects, and their job was to make sure that we all were in our proper dresses. Even a hint of error and we would be thrown out. Being an average person, I never had those perfect shoes or dress, and so most of the time I would be out.
I remember once it became so frequent that people accepted it as my nature. The reason I did not like this rule was that, at some point in my life, I had an inferiority complex because of this. Children would make fun of me because of this, and we would fight. Because of missing the first lecture, I did miss out on some very important things that were taught, and it did impact my studies.
Most of the people in my school had no issues with this rule. Probably, because they always wore the right dresses and shoes. But there were few like me who used to be out because of our neatness. I remember making friends all the way during this time. We would laugh and giggle sometimes. But initially, it was quite rough for all of us, and I believe there could have been a better way of teaching us the importance of maintaining a dress code.

Describe a health-related habit you once ignored but later started taking seriously.
You should say:
– What was the habit?
– Why did you ignore it before?
– What made you change your attitude?
and explain how it has affected your life.
Answer –
One health-related habit that I once ignored was eating processed food on a daily basis. This included things like packaged snacks or ordering food online, sometimes even as a full meal instead of preparing a proper home-cooked meal.
This habit actually started back in 2023, when I was in the final year of college. At that time, I was extremely busy with assignments, deadlines, and internships, so I barely had any time or energy to prepare meals for myself. At first, it felt quite convenient, and I even started to enjoy eating out and relying on these options. However, it gradually turned into a habit without me even realising it.
The main reason I ignored it in the beginning was that I did not see any immediate consequences, and I thought it was just a temporary phase. I believed that I could easily go back to a healthier routine later. However, things turned out to be completely different from what I had imagined.
I started to change when I began experiencing constant fatigue, dizziness, and a sluggish or drowsy feeling throughout the day. I also noticed that my concentration levels were dropping, and I felt more irritable than usual. The turning point came when I realised that this habit was not only affecting my physical health but also my mental well-being.
Since then, I have made a conscious effort to change my lifestyle. For instance, I have reduced my intake of processed foods and started prioritising balanced, home-cooked meals. I also prepare in advance by stocking my refrigerator every Sunday with vegetables and smoothie ingredients so that I don’t have to order food during the week.
This change has taught me the importance of self-discipline and taking responsibility for my health. Now, even during busy periods, when I have to eat outside, I try to choose healthier options.
Overall, this experience has completely changed my perspective on health, and I no longer take it for granted.

Life has given me a lot of happiness and moments to celebrate with my near and dear ones. I have celebrated many happy moments by hosting parties for someone and attending other people’s parties as well.
I have attended many parties on different occasions in my life, but the most enjoyable one was a party that I held to mark my elder sister’s twenty-fifth birthday. It was a surprise party that I planned with the help of my mother. It was on the twenty-fifth of September last year, and I had started to plan it two days before. After my sister left for work in the morning, I started decorating our garden and installing the setup, including the tables and chairs. My mother started baking her favourite chocolate cake while I called all her friends and our relatives to the party in the evening. I then proceeded to order snacks and appetisers along with the beverages for the evening. The celebrations finally commenced, and all the guests had arrived before she came. We welcomed her with the birthday song and hugs from everyone.
We all had an amazing time at the party. Everybody socialised; we played party games, danced and had a lot of fun throughout the evening. The best part was the fact that everyone was happy with the celebration and there were smiles all around me. My sister got gifts from everyone and was all smiles when I gifted her a necklace. She was spellbound and thanked me profusely for organising such an amazing party.
Sample Answer 2:
Frankly speaking, I am not a party buff and usually attend only those parties wherein I know some people or there is something exciting going on. The party that I am going to talk about is the one I went to last year. It was my friend’s friend’s birthday bash, and she invited all of us. Initially, I was fine with going there, but later on my friend told me she could not come along, and I almost cancelled my plan when my friend’s friend actually called and invited me again to come.
Hesitantly, I said a ‘yes’, and I would say that was the best ‘yes’ I had ever said. The party was in Rishikesh, a tourist spot in Uttarakhand, India. It was a night party, and there were campfires, music, dance, games and a lot of interesting people. To my surprise, Anusha, i.e., my friend’s friend, knew a lot of people and had invited them all. And I met and talked to many interesting people that I might otherwise never have come across! This included the self-employed interior designers, marathon runners, entrepreneurs, and writers. It was exciting to talk to them and find out how they are connected with the host.
Not only were the people great, but the food and other services were also fantastic. There were stalls of different kinds, and one could eat whatever they wished. And it was really tasty food too!!
What’s more, I discovered that actually, I did know quite a few people there after all. I am almost won over. Next time she offers to host a party, I might even find myself looking forward to it; you never know.
IELTS Speaking Part 3: questions related to parties/celebrations
Question. 1: What are the main reasons why people organise family parties in your country?
Answer: Family parties are very popular in my country. Most people organise special parties on birthdays and marriage anniversaries. Some young adults give parties after getting good grades in their exams or after being promoted to a high-level position.
Question 2: In some places people spend a lot of money on parties that celebrate special family events. Is this ever true in your country? Do you think this is a good trend or a bad trend?
Answer: Yes, wealthy people in my country throw lavish parties to celebrate special family functions. The pictures of their parties are often shown in newspapers. Even though it’s their own money, I feel that it’s a disturbing trend. It promotes discrimination in society and widens the gap between the rich and the poor.
Question 3: Are there many differences between family parties and parties given by friends? Why do you think this is?
Answer: Yes, there are. Family parties tend to be more formal as compared to parties organised by friends. Social decorum and elegance both are maintained in family functions. On the other hand, people feel freer in the parties of their friends. They normally don’t mind too much drinking or dancing, but in family functions any kind of misbehaviour can create a lot of problems.
National celebrations Question 4: What kinds of national celebrations do you have in your country?
Answer: My country has two main national celebrations: the Independence Day and the Republic Day. Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August, and Republic Day is celebrated on 26th January.
Question 5: Why do some people think that national celebrations are a waste of government money? Would you agree or disagree with this view? Why?
Answer: Some governments spend huge sums of money on national celebrations. If a country is facing problems like unemployment, illiteracy, poverty or poor infrastructure, then people will certainly complain about the money spent on national functions. In my view, the government should focus on the development of the nation rather than showcasing their military might in national celebrations.

SAMPLE ANSWER –
My country, India, is quite recognised for its rich and prosperous history. One such historical period was the Indus Valley civilisation that existed long back, but its prevalence was recently revealed in the 1900s by an archaeological survey. It was believed to be the core of art and culture during those days.
When I first studied this civilisation in class and the planning of this period’s urbanisation, it captivated me to a great extent. It was the first time that I took interest in history while learning about this time period. I learned that even in that era when there were limited resources available, the people of the Indus Valley civilisation enjoyed a highly developed city life.
This mysterious civilisation was situated on the banks of the river Indus in present-day Pakistan. I think that it’s an important part of the historical culture, as the town-planning and water management system which the people followed during that time is an excellent example for the modern world. Despite the absence of educational facilities, it is said that people who belonged to this time period had built well-equipped sanitary facilities and harvesting systems as well. When I further looked at the remains of artefacts of this civilisation, I was actually convinced that citizens of this civilisation led a comfortable and luxurious life.
I’m keen to learn more this time period and what led to its destruction. Though the town had well-managed farming and architectural construction, archaeologists are carrying on their research related to the specific cause of its disappearance. It is said that today’s world has a lot to learn about urbanisation and administration from the remains of the Indus Valley civilisation.
