IELTS Writing Sample Answer # Famous at Young

Most people dream of fame and fortune. For some fame comes instantly while others have to go through a rigorous struggle to achieve it. Although some people become successful at a very young age, for others it may take some time.

Some people become famous at a very young age. Is it a good or a bad thing?

SAMPLE ANSWER

In modern times, with the advent of social media, it is quite easy for people to become famous at a very young age. Being famous is not only associated with talent but with hard work too. Some people believe that becoming a known personality at a young age can have several repercussions while others are of the view that age does not matter and it is all about how an individual handles fame.

Being famous brings a lot of social issues along with it which can have a major impact on an individual. People may cheer you up for anything done right and then turn their back on for small mistakes done. For instance, when Justin Bieber started his music career he was instantly admired, but with time, when he started making changes in his lifestyle, there were a lot of accusations that he had to face, jeopardizing his career.

However, being famous at a young age allows you to make all the mistakes that one either ways make, learn from them and move on. A person who is able to handle being famous from a young age tends to grow as a mature adult and venture out in different directions towards the later stages. For instance, the Indian cricketers who got to be in the hall of fame from the beginning could relate to the battles and towards the end of their career, smoothly transit to other viable options.

In my personal opinion, as long as it does hamper personal growth, there is nothing wrong. However, if it impacts the talent of the individual, it is better to grow the talent perfectly, before he or she is shoved off in front of the public.

IELTS BAND 7

People often believe that musicians, sports stars and artists are born not made.

IELTS Writing task 2. You should spend 40 minutes on this task. Write at least 250 words. Write about the following topic:

People often believe that great musicians, sports stars and artists are born not made. Do you agree that we are born with much of our ability, or are there other factors that can make us good sports people or musicians?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant example from your own knowledge or experience.

Sample Answer

What makes great artists, musicians, writers, or athletes: Nature or Nurture? This question has intrigued philosophers and scientists for centuries. I personally think that factors like family and environment play a decisive role in one’s life and successful career. Nevertheless, some natural talent is required to excel in areas such as sport, art or music.

Let us first look at how an innate ability in art or music or sport can make a difference. Certainly, it differentiates a person who has learned to play a sport or an instrument from someone who has mastered that skill. In other words, natural talent wins over a learned technique. It allows gifted people to reach a level which their hard-working counterparts can never manage. Also, learning that extra element is almost impossible, no matter how hard someone practices or how good the teachers are.

However, natural talent is an internal factor that can contribute to someone’s success. There are numerous external factors such as family, environment, experiences and training etc. which have their own significance. Good musicians, exceptional sports starts or other successful people are not made in one day. Years of hard work, family support, training and devotion make them what they are. Composer Beethoven and tennis legend Roger Federer are the telling examples.

To sum up, nature and nurture are inseparable. Inherited talents can affect our ability to reach the top level in certain professions. However, people can acquire skills and achieve their goals if they live in a conducive environment.

IELTS Essay # The quality of life in the cities is worsening

IELTS Essay, The quality of life in the cities is worsening

In many countries, the quality of life in the large cities is worsening. What possibly can cause this problem? What measures can be taken to resolve it?

Sample Answer

Many cities across the globe are witnessing a decline in the quality of life. This essay will look at the reasons behind this and give some possible measures to overcome the problems of city dwellers.

Firstly, an ever increasing population and migration of people from rural to urban areas have caused congestion. This has led to growth in the numbers of slums in some areas. Slums as we know do not have any basic facilities like hospitals, sanitation, clean drinking water and are a hotbed of diseases. As a result of living in unhygienic conditions, not only people in slums suffer from serious health problems but also aid the cause of spreading flu and other viruses. Secondly, hectic schedule and excessive workload also hamper the quality of life. To explain it further, extended working hours, long commuting time leave urbanites with hardly ever time to involve in recreational activities which are indispensable to ensure the wellbeing of human beings. As a consequence, there has been a sharp rise in the prevalence of psychiatric problems among people in large cities.

To look at the possible measures, the government should develop affordable accommodation facilities to accommodate an ever-growing number of city dwellers. There should be strict restrictions on building of slums and stern action need to taken against offenders. In order to control the influx of rural migrants, the government should focus on the development of the countryside. Gyms and recreational facilities like parks, gardens and yoga centres etc should also be constructed by the government and there should be no charge to use them. Moreover, positives of good health should be highlighted, asking people to follow a balanced life.

To conclude, unfettered growth of population, stressful lifestyle and lack of basic facilities in certain areas have made the life worse in cities. Undoubtedly, if this situation is to be improved, effective measures have to be taken.

IELTS essay: # Euthanasia

IELTS writing essay, Euthanasia is no longer acceptable in modern society

Euthanasia is no longer acceptable in modern society. Discuss the solutions to accept this fact.
You should spend about 40 minutes on this question. You should write at least 250 words.

Sample Answer
[PARA 1]

Euthanasia means putting an end to life with an intention to relieve pain and suffering. Different countries define euthanasia differently though the connotation remains the same. India’s Supreme Court issued a ruling to allow “passive euthanasia”, declaring that every individual has the right to die with dignity. However, the misuse of euthanasia for selfish ends is not uncommon. This has raised a question about its acceptance in the present social system.

[PARA 2]

Eminent lawyers voice the fear of euthanasia misuse in many eastern countries which are notorious for property disputes. The family members of old people can opt for intentional killing for unsurping their properties. Then, it is not uncommon to find people who don’t want to spend time and money taking care of their old and ill parents. For them, euthanasia may seem like an easy solution to run away from their responsibilities. Moreover, there are several documented cases of abuse in countries where euthanasia and assisted suicide is legal. It encourages vulnerable people to end their lives. There are people who have ended or are made to end their lives for petty reasons. For instance, in Belgium, a woman was euthanized because she was suffering from anorexia.

[PARA 3]

In most countries killing another person is considered murder, even if the intention is to “ease the pain”. It is believed that euthanasia is never necessary, even less since the advent of palliative care. Palliative care provided by a well-trained team can help the patient, his family and loved ones by controlling physical, mental, social and existential suffering. This is the reason why many western countries like Canada oppose euthanasia for it could become an economical method of treating the terminally ill patients. Not just that, there have been cases where medical personnel who carry out euthanasia for patients had to undergo psychotherapy and face personal consequences.

[PARA 4]

All in all, euthanasia is increasing in countries that have legalized it and we are witnessing worrisome abuse in these jurisdictions. It should not be forgotten that for a citizen to kill another, even if for compassionate reasons opens a Pandora’s box. Human life must be respected regardless of age, gender, religion, social status or potential for success. That is the reason for the almost universal prohibition against deliberately taking the life of a person.
