IELTS Essay Sample Questions # Restaurants

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

Some people believe that restaurants are a waste of time and it is cheaper and healthier to cook at home.

Do you agree or disagree?

You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Home preparation of meals has been the traditional way of consuming meals. However, with changes in our lifestyles, eating habits of most people have seen a clear shift. These developments are often seen in negative light and in my opinion when eating at a restaurant becomes a daily habit, is gloomy for us.

Firstly, the restaurant often offers fast food, which impacts the quality of food. Most often, the methods of preparation are such that they produce maximum benefits to the owners, not taking in much account the health factors for the consumers. Even more, most restaurants offer foods that are quickly prepared. These are the foods prepared using preservatives and colors which often harm the individual.

Secondly, eating at a restaurant on daily basis means longer working hours. Although, eating outside releases the workload on individuals, more so because in present times, the number of women working outside is increasing, it increases stress. The modern lifestyle has increased nuclear families with little to no time left for family bonding. In traditional ways, through making food or sitting over at night, the bond was created. The culture of restaurants does give us food with little effort but takes away the quality time in preparation of food.

Overall, times have changed and the ways of living have as well. However, in the muddled world of ours, if we can choose to eat together and at home, there is a possibility of sanity across humanity.

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.
It is believed that young people have too much freedom and they don’t pay attention to the older people’s advice. Do you agree or disagree?
You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

The world is changing at a rapid pace and thus the difference between people born in different times is inevitable. Individuals with a mere difference of few years tend to sometimes have completely different opinions. This clash often leads people to come in the denial mode. Most people believe that the younger generation has been given a lot of freedom and they rarely listen to the elder people’s advice.

Millenials as we know they are independent individuals with access to the world that happens at a click of a button. With knowledge at their hand, they have become more enlightened of the things of past, which they disagree with. For instance, a person believing that a woman should be allowed to work outside, will less likely to listen to someone who disagrees with it.

Even more, most of the younger people tend to have an entrepreneurial mind while older generation was more loyal towards a single employer. So, when the elder generation tries stopping them or advises them, they often go into the denial mode.

The human race is constantly evolving and there is a change in the ideologies of people belonging to different generations. It is only through understanding the changes and the present scenarios can generations be able to share their experiences and creativity.

IELTS Essay Sample Answers # Family Talks

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

Nowadays, we communicate less with our family members. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

SAMPLE ANSWER

The world has become a global village yet in many sense it has grown apart. We can talk with people miles away by just a click of a button yet have failed to make real time connections with people around. With the hustle and bustle of our lives and the maddening rush of proving oneself, most people have lost the daily connect with family members.

Technology has a major role to play in the lives of 21st-century people in all aspects. For example – children today prefer playing with their tablet rather than watching television or playing with their parents and friends. Further more, the concept of nuclear families has become prominent. More and more people are likely to stay away from their parents. Adding to it, they are often very busy with their lives. Most parents are not able to connect with their parents and then also with their children.

However, there are some people who still are able to find a balance between the rush of life and the real life connections they have with people. Proper utilization of their weekends and effective planning is what helps them in being in connection with their family members. For instance, a friend of mine plans two holidays every year, one with family members the other alone. Also, he makes sure he has a chat with his parents daily.

Technology, competition, and globalization might have made it not obvious for people to connect with their family members. But, even in this rush, if someone can give solace to us it is the family members. There are some who delay it, but most people are now trying to have a connection with their blood mates.
