IELTS Speaking # smoking

IELTS Speaking question 1: What do you feel about smoking in public places?

Answer: Firstly, it isn’t even a little bit pleasant to be surrounded by the smoke of cigarettes or other substances. Secondly, passive smoking is as harmful as active smoking. Therefore, in my opinion, it’s pretty selfish to smoke in public places and the reason for that is quite convincing: it negatively influences others to indulge in active smoking. Keeping these facts in mind, I support a strict ban on smoking in public places.

IELTS Speaking question 2: Do you think smoking should be banned in people’s homes?

Answer: I think in a democratic country like India, it’s not practical and feasible for the government to ban smoking in homes. All of us have a right of privacy and we want to lead the life of our choice. So, I am not in favor of a ban on smoking as it may lead to other crimes. Instead of this, government can think about a massive social awareness program through advertisements and health warning messages on tobacco products.

IELTS Speaking about friend

IELTS Speaking about friend.

Speaking question 1: Describe a friend.

Answer A: In my time of teaching, I met some really lively colleagues, the most memorable being a girl named Shweta, who had newly joined. As far as I recall, we met at a formal meeting in the staff room which turned out to be the beginning of an everlasting friendship. She was an average looking girl with a true golden heart and a radiant personality. I found a helping and compassionate person in her who believed in honesty. She was not only a responsible human being, but a notable professional in the same way. I will always be thankful to her to bring out the best out of me.

Answer B: I can proudly say that the God has gifted me an unpretentious friend like Raghav, who is there for me throughout my thick and thin. He is the most helpful person I have ever known. There were many times when I felt that I was always being tagged by a person who was my biggest critic. But, he eventually made me a better person by telling me all my faults. Although, being in different cities we can’t spend much time together now, but it doesn’t limit our friendship. We certainly find occasions to be together and experience some moments worth living for.

Speaking question 2: How long have you known each other?

Answer A): We have known each other since childhood as we were in the same class till the time we completed our degrees.

Answer B): We have known each other for three years as we were working for the same organisation. We have spent a lot of quality time together.

Speaking question 3: What do you usually do together?

Answer: As both of us are fun loving people, so we love to go out to different places. Now, we are working and have families. But, we manage to spend time together when we see each other on weekends. We like to eat out, discuss various things related to each other’s life and play outdoor games. Sometimes, we plan to go out on a tour with our families. Meeting each other not only revives me but makes me glad as it allows us to share some old memories.

Speaking question 4: What do you like most about him/her?

Answer: Well, she is a bundle of joy and has many qualities which are exemplary. But, one quality which attracted me towards her magnetic personality is, her helping nature. She extends a helping hand to everyone who needs her. She is girl with a kind heart and a strong conscience. I have seen her supporting her family and found her with me whenever I needed her. I have learnt a lot from her.

Speaking question 5: How often do you see each other?

Answer: Actually, when we were working for the same organisation, we used to meet daily and spend quality time together. But, when I shifted to another city, our meetings became less frequent, but that didn’t affect the bond between us. We still feel close to each other and we communicate through social networking sites.
