When a person is happy, he or she is more likely to make better decisions and do the right things with his or her life rather than comparing it to the time when he or she is not so excited about his or her project. There have been many times I have felt happy about my life, but if I had to talk about the happiest situation, it was when I got placed in a leading company. It was after a lot of perseverance that I landed myself in the company. I joined around three years back and it has been an amazing ride since I joined the company.

Actually, I consider myself to be a hard-working individual, and I have proved it time and again. One day my seniors organised a meeting with all the associates and told us about a very difficult assignment which needed to be worked upon for a client. We received different task allocations and started working upon them. After poring over the data and figuring out the solutions, I finished my work and submitted it. I then proceeded to help my colleagues and played my part in finishing the project before the deadline. During all this time, our seniors kept a close eye on our individual progress.

Now at the next meeting, we were told that our work was good and the client appreciated our efforts. My manager called me over and proceeded to announce that everyone was pleased by my exceptional work ethics, and they have decided to promote me as a team leader. My joy knew no bounds at that moment, and I thanked everyone profusely. I felt satisfied knowing that my efforts helped me achieve success. It is indeed a great feeling when your endeavour pays off with such results.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Sample Answer:

The linear representation provides information about the production of three forest materials, namely, paper & packaging, wood pulp and sawn wood in the UK for 21 years, between 1980 and 2000. The data are measured in million tonnes.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that the production of paper & packaging witnessed an increase, whilst it declined in the case of wood pulp and sawn wood in 2000 compared to the initial years’ figure.
Looking at the details, the production of paper & packaging was the highest of all three materials in 1980 and accounted for approximately 235 million tonnes. Later, the figure rose modestly till 1990 to exactly 250 million tonnes, then skyrocketed to 300 million tonnes in 2000.
By contrast, a significant difference of around 30 million tonnes can be observed in the production between wood pulp and sawn wood, whose individual production stood at nearly 170 and 200 million tonnes, respectively. Surprisingly, in 1990, the production of both materials was identical. Meanwhile, in 2000, wood pulp outraced sawn wood in terms of production.

SAMPLE ANSWER –

The internet is an essential part of survival in the present-day world. It has been a lifesaver for me numerous times, but here I can recall a time when the internet helped me handle a bad situation. I have the habit of keeping all the important information on my phone instead of my laptop. Last week, when I was busy studying for my exam, all of a sudden my phone’s screen froze, due to which I wasn’t able to make any calls or check my notes.

I panicked, as it was quite late at night, and I couldn’t head to the market to get some professional help. My phone included all important recorded lectures and notes. I lost hope and had pessimistic thoughts in my mind regarding my exam. I started searching for a temporary solution to fix my iPhone. There were some solutions available on sites, and I followed the steps in order to try my luck.

I followed the instructions given and connected my phone to the computer. It asked for a software update, and I thought of trying it, as I didn’t have any other option since all my important information, including my admit card, was in my phone. It nearly took two hours to complete the update and reboot my iPhone.

Luckily, the phone restarted, and I felt a sign of relief at that hour. Though we keep on criticising the internet and technology on a daily basis, during that moment I couldn’t be thankful enough to them.

SAMPLE ANSWER –

Trust is considered to be an important tool in one’s friendship, which takes time and diligence to rebuild if lost. Here, I’d like to talk about a time when I tried to conceal a secret from a friend, which had a bad effect on our friendship. The scenario happened quite a while ago when we were in university. It was during our results when I tried to keep my best friend’s poor grades confidential, as she was enjoying her cousin’s wedding at that time.

As far as I remember, most of my friends were worried about their performance in the exams, but my best friend had a different level of excitement since it was her relative’s wedding within two days. Though she was equally nervous about the results, she didn’t let her fear come between her happiness. When the result was declared, all of my friends cleared the exams with flying colours, but unfortunately, my best friend’s result was not up to expectations.

I decided not to inform her about the result on a call, as it might affect her joyful state of mind about the wedding ceremonies. But unluckily, she got this bitter news from one of our classmates. She was deeply affected by it, as those results were going to have a major impact on our placements.

Initially, this situation jeopardised our friendship, and people tried to create misunderstandings between us. But after a couple of days, she considered my point of view and tried to look at it from my position. We later apologised and promised to never hide the truth from each other, no matter how bitter it would be.
