Do you think too much time is spent watching TV?

I believe yes, there are lot of people who watch TV for more than 3 hours a day and in the age that we are living, with internet, there is so much more a person can learn by simply switching on the Internet. If a person chooses to watch Television for simply passing out time, there is not much that can be achieved. Does TV take away a person’s ability to think for himself or herself?

I am not very sure of this because it is not television that takes away anyone’s ability. It is what the person decides to do in his or her life. If a person chooses to simply watch television 24/7, there are more chances that he or she cannot make decisions because that is not what he or she is used to. However, if someone watches television for entertainment while doing other activities as well, there is not much harm that can be done.

Do you think that TV prevents people from communicating?

There are two sides to it. It can even prevent people from communicating or make the communication going. So, if someone watches only television and refuses to talk to anyone else, it does blocks away the communication, but then there are people who when meet each other talk about the stories in the television. They discuss on what is right and all about the characteristics of their favorite stars. In that sense, surely TV makes people communicating.

What do you think of TV shows that are designed to “discover new talent?”

Too an extent they do help finding new talent, because people from different places come to display their talents, but then with so many of them coming in, I doubt their integrity. There have been news where these shows asked for money to select a particular individual and then there is this public voting that takes place. Often in this, the most talented gets eliminated.

If you couldn’t watch TV at home but had to stay there, what would you do?

I would read novels because that is one thing I love more than anything in this world. Or may be a newspaper or anything to read.

Could you live without TV for a week?

Yes, I can. I remember there was a time I could not live without it for an hour, but recently I have stopped watching television.

Do you like watching TV alone or with your family?

If ever, I like watching television with my family because then you can laugh together at the jokes or make some jokes at the stupid things happening. Also, there is nothing much better than fighting for the remote with your siblings, making pacts and then breaching them.

Who decides what to watch: the parent or the child?

Until a certain age, it is the parent who decides what a child should watch, but I think after certain time, nothing can stop an individual from doing things that he or she prefers or loves to do.
