Answer – A situation that I found really difficult to avoid was working on my master’s
dissertation, especially during the first few months.
This happened last year while I was in the initial stage of my dissertation. I was at home
most of the time, trying to plan my research, but instead of actually starting, I kept
procrastinating. I would make schedules, think about topics, and overplan everything, but I wasn’t taking real action.
The main reason it was difficult to avoid was that I felt overwhelmed. The dissertation
seemed like a huge task, and I did not know where to begin. Because of that, I kept delaying it, even though I knew I could not escape it forever. At some point, the deadlines started getting closer, and I realised that avoiding it would only make things worse.
Eventually, I forced myself to start working on it step by step. Over time, I became more
consistent, and what once felt stressful slowly turned into a habit. I started enjoying the
process, especially when I began seeing progress in my work.
In the end, I even had to present my dissertation, which I was initially very nervous about.
But surprisingly, the presentation went much better than I had imagined. I felt confident and satisfied with my work.
Looking back, I feel that this experience taught me an important lesson about discipline and facing challenges. Although it was difficult at first, overcoming my procrastination made me more confident in my abilities.
