The line graph provides information about how the numbers of three kinds of birds sighted at Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary changed over a period of 13 years (2001-2014).

Overall, it can be clearly observed that the numbers of all types of birds experienced a significant rise with time and flamingos recorded the highest count throughout the years.

In the year 2001, the numbers of kingfisher, black beak pelican and flamingo were 200, 1000 and 3000 respectively. After a span of 2 years the numbers of kingfisher experienced a slight growth and recorded at 500. In comparison, black beak pelican and flamingo figures rose considerably to 3000 and 5000 respectively.

In the year 2005, the count of kingfishers was 2500, while the other two species had significantly high totals. Over the course of next 3 years, flamingo counts leveled out at approximately 9000. The population of black beak pelican in the bird sanctuary saw a marginal decline in the same time period. Notably, kingfisher was the only species that showed an increase in numbers. In 2014, the numbers of flamingo were approximately 4500 more than that of black beak pelican and approximately 7500 higher as compared to kingfishers.

I still remember, me and my colleagues were going to have coffee at a café next to our office building. I was carrying a wallet in my hand so that I could make payment afterwards. We all enjoyed the coffee and I decided to pay. When I was going towards the counter, I got an important business call. Somehow, I managed to pay the amount while being busy on the phone. We enjoyed our coffee and went back to work. An hour later, my friend asked me, if I could borrow him thousand bucks. In order to give him the money, I started searching for my wallet and all my efforts went in vain. Soon, I realized that probably I had lost my wallet somewhere in the café only.

That day, I could clearly understand the emotional cost of losing something you love.  That wallet was too close to my heart as it was a birthday gift from by my father. Therefore, I considered that wallet as my lucky charm .Losing something you love is a difficult situation to cope with. Loss is a loss whether it is big or small. It makes you feel that something you possessed is no longer with you.

Moreover, I was also carrying some important documents like ID card, driving license, and credit cards etc. in my wallet. I straight away went to police station to report the matter and get a copy of the official police report. Further, I had to borrow money from my friend to reach home. Overall that incident disturbed me and my life for some time.

Nowadays, people express their feelings and emotions by giving presents to their loved ones. Some people think that giving gifts to someone is a sweet gesture of care and love, whereas, some people believe in other ways of showing their concern. There are different opinions in both the views, which I will be discussing further.

In today’s busy and self-absorbed life, we do not get enough time to spend with our family and friends. People forget to make others realise how important their presence is. Communication gap between family members makes relationships strained. In a way, gifts are not only important to start a relationship but also to maintain it. In addition, the simple act of gifting can surprise our loved ones and make them respond with the same warmth. This helps in building a healthy bond between two individuals. What is more, some people are not able to speak what they feel for others. So, they find gifts as the best way of expressing their feelings.

Looking at the other side, love and care can also be shown by a simple smile and a warm hug. A smile is the cheapest and simplest effort to show care. A lot of people need someone to listen to their problems and empathise with them. So, if we give our time to someone, it becomes more valuable than any present. People with limited income cannot afford to give presents. They shower their love and concern with encouraging words and valuable advice. Furthermore, by cooking delicious food and going out together, we can showcase our love and affection for someone.

In my opinion, we do not always need money to buy gifts to exhibit our emotions. There are many alternatives to express our love and care. Giving gifts to someone should be unconditional and we must not expect the same in return. A relationship should not be compared and evaluated on the basis of such offerings.

It’s a human tendency to judge others by their outer appearance, but is it fair? A good physical appearance is the only parameter to decide the status and worth of a person. I think it’s unfair to draw conclusions and opinions about others without actually knowing them. Some people try to demean others by making a negative impressions, in order to derive a false sense of superiority and gratification.

Generally, people tend to make perceptions about others by outer appearance like their looks, complexion, dress etc. They hold such preconceived notions about others in order to accept or reject them. Stereotyping makes people judge others with a closed mind-set, thereby, hampers correct judgement. We must not follow general rules to judge others rather should develop our own set of standards. This way we can stop making wrong assumptions by rejecting negative influences around us.

Only external appearance cannot decide the personality of an individual. We also need to look at his inherent inner qualities which are sometimes latent. In order to manifest the true nature and qualities of someone, time is required. A person with an ordinary appearance can be a great person. Abdul Kalam Azad, a renowned scientist and former President of India, is a perfect example of this. He was an extra-ordinary man with ordinary looks. All people are born equal regardless of our outer appearance. Having a beautiful heart is more important than having beautiful looks.

Personally, I believe in the saying that ‘All that glitters is not gold’. Irrespective of the physical differences, we must respect each other as human beings and should stop being censorious.  A positive attitude with no prejudice can help individuals to overcome this problem of judging people by their looks.
