IELTS Speaking Latest Cue Card# Lesiure Activity

The latest cue card is here and we are talking about lesiure activity that you enjoy doing.

Describe a lesiure activity you like doing.
You should say:

  • Where you do it?
  • Who you do it with?
  • Why you enjoy it?
  • And say what kind of people you would recommend that activity to, and why?
Sample Answer:

Today, I’m going to talk about an activity I enjoy doing in my leisure time. It may sound strange but I love watching Bollywood movies. On Sundays, I invite my close friends to my home for a high tea and all of us watch a film together. It is not always a latest movie. Sometimes, we prefer to see old blockbusters which ruled the hearts of millions of Indians in the seventies.
The main reason why I find this activity fun is that I work six days a week, Monday to Saturday. I hardly get time to meet my friends on weekdays. So, this plan acts as a perfect stress buster for all of us. It not only brings us together but also enables us to share our feelings and problems.
Since most of us lead a busy and stressful life these days, we should make sure that we have some time for our family members and friends. I believe that the communication over social networking sites is very different from face-to-face interaction. Online communication is affecting the way we interact with people and the type of relationships we make. It is also killing our ability to build strong relationships with people. Anyone who wants to bring a positive change in their life should try a cup of tea and an entertaining film with your loved ones. I reckon it will do wonders.

IELTS Essay Sample Answer # Basis Of Salary

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

Salary should be given on the basis of skill set not experience.
Do you agree or disagree with the statement?

Write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER – AGREE

Money is one of the most important factor that comes into foreplay when people decide the job that they will take. Some people believe that it is the experience that counts more than the skill sets and person should be given salary on the basis of it. While others are of the opinion that experience surely is important however skill set is what should be the basis of salary. In my view point, the importance of experience cannot be denied but the basis of salary should be the skill sets.

It might be possible that a person has been working for the pst few years on a particular technology but often it has been seen that merely sitting and working does not gives the in depth knowledge of the concepts. People who work do get to know ho work is done but the basic concepts often get deprived. Hence, it cannot be said that just because a person was working for n number of years on it, they are likely to know more from someone who has the in-depth theoretical knowledge of the subject.

Even more, a person who has the right skill set for a particular job can always do the same task in a better way. For example, a labour has an experience of building houses for years but he can never replace the architect, because an architect is more skilled than a labour. An experienced person knows how to do things they way they are told, but a person with right skill set knows how to do things the right way.

Overall, in my opinion, experience surely is important but it cannot outweigh the person who has the perfect skill set.

Money is one of the most important factor that comes into foreplay when people decide the job that they will take. Some people believe that it is the experience that counts more than the skill sets and person should be given salary on the basis of it. While others are of the opinion that experience surely is important however skill set is what should be the basis of salary. In my view point, skill set is necessary to do things correctly but it is always experience that allows an individual to take correct decision.

A person who has worked on real life scenarios knows how to solve a problem practically rather than theoretically. For example, someone who has studied from the best law school is likely to know less about law than a person who has an experience of dealing with situation in the court. A person with experience moves ahead of the stringent rules written in the book and knows how to make things work.

Even more, often what gets written in the books is way to back of what is actually being done in the production. So, a person who knows the work is more likely to solve the issues than merely someone who has got the skills to do the work.

Overall, in my opinion, skills surely are important to do things because they teach how to do things in a different manner. However, it is experience that teaches how to make things happen beyond the stringent rules written in books.

IELTS Essay Sample Answer # Salary Difference

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

There are certain jobs that pay more while others that pay less even though the amount of effort remains the same.

Discuss.

You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Money is one factor that plays a very important role when choosing a job. But, there are even some who choose a job because of the passion they have for doing it. However, one cannot change the way a person chooses a job, there have been voices raised that certain set of jobs are given more priority than others, even though the amount of effort is done is equal.

The money a person gets in exchange for the work that they do, in present times depends on how much it impacts the economy of a country. So, for example, a businessman is more likely to earn more than for instance a superstar. Because a company that is succeeding is likely to help the government in solving issues.

Likewise, a housewife is not paid at all whereas someone who is working 12 hours in an IT industry is more likely to get more than 4 lacs per annum. In my opinion, there are certain issues that need to be taken care of because the government believes that they are doing more for the economy of the country.

However, in my opinion, people with better skill sets should be given more salary it should be taken care that the others who are doing work, maybe not directly affecting an economy, should get satisfactory income.

Overall, salary is surely directly proportional to kind of skill sets an individual has and the kind of work he or she does. But, it should be made sure that everyone gets at least a minimum satisfactory income.

REASONS

  1. Someone who has more knowledge can achieve more in the same time or even more with the same effort than someone who is not very skilled.
  2. Certain jobs like business and sports especially cricket are very famous and do give more money. With sports ,it should be made sure that every sportsman gets equal treatment in the country, but for jobs like the business and acting there cannot be very much of comparison because the former surely requires more responsibility.
  3. Salary an individual gets is dependent on the kind of money the work he or she does gives back to the government. If the share is more they are more likely to earn more.
  4. Often money earned is taken as the only factor when deciding the salary. However, jobs like teachers that may not directly impact the economy make sure that the economy rises in future. If the country does not have good teachers it is more likely to fall down.
  5. Even more, jobs like housewife are not considered much as they should be. Because it is only when a woman decides to be a housewife that a man is able to go out and work properly and the children are able to get the best of education.
  6. Salary is dependent on the popularity of work that a person does, so it is more like fame. Like, Virat Kohli is more likely to earn better off than many of the national award winners because of the kind of sport that he plays.
