IELTS SPEAKING SAMPLE QUESTION – ROBOTS, IELTSBAND7, DEHRADUN
In today’s times we are surrounded by machines, robots and humans have been in more than one way or another been replaced by machines in numerous fields. Machines that are able to perform tasks just like humans and in a more effective manner are called robots however, Scientists nowadays are adding more human like programs to these electrical machines so that they are able to understand us better.
Q1.Can Robots replace humans?
ANS.In these ever demanding times where human need is growing every second we need every helping hand possible. Robots have been around for some time but its only now that their demands has sky rocketed and they are being replaced by humans in many a fields but it’s us humans who made them in the first place so even if they are more productive than humans in certain tasks they will never be able to replicate human like emotions or understanding as these kinds of programs cannot be designed. Every human is different and there are 7 billion people on this planet so even if they do design programs based on emotions and ideas it will be catering to the entire idea of generalisation rather than just focusing on an individual.
Q2.Have you ever seen any robots, Where?
ANS.Well recently I went to this event which was held at Pragiti maidan in Delhi. It was for the promotion of an upcoming Hollywood film titled Transformers. The movie is set in an alternate universe where humans and robots fight side by side against enemies from another planet which are also Robots. There were a lot of robots on display but the one that got everybody’s attention was a robot called “Bumble bee”. It was a huge mechanical person which was bright yellow in colour and was loaded with guns and all kinds of ammunition. The most striking feature about that robot was that it could transform itself into a car which left everybody in attendance stunned. I was surely astonished at this marvellous feat as something which was only possible in magazines and movies now exists in real life too.
Q3.Give an example of a common robot in use
ANS.As mentioned earlier there are many kinds of robots in use but the most common one that is used in every modern household are irobot vacuum cleaners. These are smart circular devices that help in cleaning your house. They are programmed in such a manner that once switched on they go around the entire house and vacuum the floor. The in-built program helps them map the area so no area gets cleaned twice and also they are able to hover around the house without damaging any furniture as the in-built sensors, motion detectors are able to detect any object or movement in their path. These machines cost a lot but they are worth every penny as they have been thoroughly tried and tested in different corners of the earth and the results are overwhelming.

Clothing, also known as apparel, attire or clothes is a collective term for items worn on the body. Wearing clothes is restricted to human beings and is a feature of all human societies. saree, IELTS Speaking # Clothes You Like To Wear On Special Occasions, IELTS BAND7 DEHRADUN

Sample Answer:

Although I like to dress up casually on a day to day basis, I love to wear a sari for a social event, celebration or festivity. Saree is a female garment for the Indian subcontinent that consists of a drape varying from five to nine yards. It is typically wrapped around the waist, with one end hanging over the shoulder. It is one of the oldest and perhaps the only surviving unstitched garment of the past.
A majority of Indian women wear saree as a traditional dress which has a great cultural significance. Over the years it has not only become sensuous, glamorous all-time-wear for women , but also the canvas for printers and weavers to create artistic weaves, prints and jeweled embellishments. Saree is one of the most graceful dresses as it elegantly covers the entire body by showing natural curves in the most dignified way.
Whenever I wear a saree, I feel delicate and feminine. I particularly like the ones which are made of soft flowing materials as they are easy to drape. On festivals and other formal occasions I love to wear the traditionally woven silk sarees like Kantha, Baluchari and Paithani. These are sarees hand woven in different states of India. Each one of them has ethnic weaves typical of that region.
The best thing about sarees is that they never go out of fashion. What’s more, designers have come up with sarees with modern twist which are even easier to wear and handle. There are semi stitched versions available which can be draped in lesser time than the unstitched ones.

Follow Up Questions

Q1.Do you enjoy buying clothes?
Ans. Till a few years back, I loved shopping for clothes and other stuff with my friends. It was more of a fun day having a bit of shopping, sightseeing and spending quality time with loved ones. However, nowadays I prefer online shopping as it is less time consuming and cheaper than going personally to the shopping malls for purchasing garments. Also, there is a vast variety of clothes one can choose from these shopping websites.
Q2.What kinds of clothes you like to wear?
Ans. On a daily basis, I prefer getting dressed up in casual wear like jeans and T-shirt but for special occasions, I stick to formal wear like a saree or salwar suit. I believe that it’s really important to wear clothes according to the occasion so as to be a part of your social group.
Q3.What factors do you think affect the clothes we choose to wear?
Ans. I personally believe that there are many factors that determine our choice of clothes. Firstly, we purchase clothing according to our liking and comfort level. Then comes, the amount of money we want to spend while selecting our clothes for particular occasions. Lastly, we choose to wear our attire according to weather and geographical location. I would also like to add here that in certain circumstances, religion determines what one wears. For instance, muslim women have to wear hijab or burkha while sikh men wear a headgear called turban.
Q4.Is it possible to look good without spending too much on clothes?
Ans.I feel that it dosen’t necessarily mean that only expensive clothes look good. The way that the wearer carries himself or herself matters the most. Also, if one knows the skill to mix and match different items of clothing that go well together, one can actually generate many new looks without spending much. Adding a few accessories can accentuate the dress which is otherwise simple and inexpensive.

Speaking Part 3 # Punishing Law Breakers

Speaking Part 3 # Punishing Law Breakers, IELTS BAND7 DEHRADUN

Speaking Part 3 – Punishing Law Breakers

Q1: Do people who break law in your country receive the correct punishment?
Ans: The laws are made as such that any act that is illegal according to the constitution of our country is punishable in its own accord. Some of the most common offences are traffic related incidents and often involve people not wearing seat belts or helmets. In a country like ours it is very difficult to maintain law and order to the maximum and there are repeat offenders who get away with crimes on many occasions. The more influential person you are the easier it is for one to get away with crimes in my country so at times people who break the law receive the correct punishment and sometimes the lawyer and their contacts are able to influence the judiciary and justice is not delivered.

Q2: Is the death penalty ever acceptable?
Ans: Yes it is and I believe that in a country like ours where humanity shames itself every new day that we punish those who commit heinous crimes and send the right message across to offenders who want to go down the same path. I am not very proud of this but rape is a very serious problem in India nowadays. It’s not only the crimes but at times the manner in which these gruesome acts are committed that they send chills down my spine. There is no other option but to execute these people as they are a burden on our society and a blot on our system. If these people are able to breathe the same air as a law abiding citizen of this country then it’s a mockery of law and order in our country.

Q3: Are there any alternatives to putting someone in jail?
Ans: There are many alternatives that government should have apart from jail to help people who commit crimes. Firstly it depends upon the kind of crime one commits and if is something serious then they should be put in jail straightaway and let law take its own course. There are some people who commit petty crimes out of necessity and they should be referred to different programs and be mentored to become a better individual. Traffic offences are something that majorly goes unpunished so I’d like a program where those who commit traffic violations are punished with some sort of community service and are made accountable for their actions.

What would your perfect holiday look like? You should say –

My perfect holiday would most likely be in a snow decked winter
landscape. Somewhere cold, sunny and high up view to behold.

I would go with my sister, she too adores the fresh mountain
air. And I am sure my cousins would love to tag along, together we would be a
really rowdy bunch. We would go skiing, sledging and ice skating. I can just
imagine their faces when they slip up on the ice, me laughing with them.

We would go to the Christmas Carnival and have delicious hot
chocolate while joking about how are feet are going to freeze off. Baking
cookies and watching some movies when it gets too cold out, all huddled up
together. Making blanket forts after long days of snowball fights and building
snowmen are some other things I imagine we
would do.

It would be perfect, because we would all be together, having
the time of our lives as a family. There is nothing more I could ask for.

SAMPLE ANSWER TWO

Holidays have been an important part of my life. Not only do I like giving it to others, I enjoy them for myself as well. They could be either group trips or solo trips. But, my perfect holiday would be on an all India tour all by myself. It has been my dream for a very long time to be able to travel across India and write down the stories of the country. Of meeting new people and getting to know their stories.

I would start off from my base location and move ahead towards the east. Traveling across all the east, and moving towards north, west and then south. It will be all an all travel to the different cities, the major festivals, major temples, and more importantly the common people of the place. I want to meet all those people and then interview them. Get to know their stories and write about it.

If I am able to do this holiday, it would be the best thing to happen to me. Not because, it will be a big one, but because it would be for me a dream come true. Knowing my country, and getting to know its past, present, and future is what makes this holiday perfect for me.
