IELTS General Letter # Museum Visit

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.

You went to a museum with your elderly friend last week. However, he/she found it difficult to walk around the museum. Write a letter to the manager and say :

  • whom did you visit the museum with?
  • what problems/inconveniences did he/she face?
  • also, suggest solutions to enhance the museum visit experience for an elderly person.

Write at least 150 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Sir/Madam,
We have been living in the city for quite a long time and your museum has been the must go place for our family members in every month. So, when my friend’s grandfather visited our city, we brought him along with us to visit the museum. Initially, he was very content with the feel of the place but got irritated because there were no places to sit. We felt an urgent need for more places to sit in the museum.

The second time he looked at us with pleading eyes was when we were having lunch at the museum. The food items were good for us, but they were a bit too oily for my grandfather. After six hours of visit, he felt tired and hungry. Had there been some fruits and juice center, it would have helped a lot.

The concerns might seem bit obvious but when interacting with other elderly people, I found similar feedbacks. Your museum has a good reputation in general, I hope these suggestions will help you in improving the experience of the museum.

IELTS GENERAL LETTER WRITING # TURNING DOWN JOB OFFER

You recently met the manager of a new company that has just opened in your town. After the meeting he wrote to you to offer a job in this new company. However, you have to stay in your present job.

Write a letter to the manager. In your letter,

  • Thank him/her for the offer.
  • Explain why you cannot accept this offer
  • Recommend a friend for this job
Sample Answer:

Dear Mr. David,

I believe you are doing fine. It was great meeting you in the party last Sunday and I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation with you. I have received a job offer letter from you and am writing in reference to the same.

I am pleased to have been offered the ‘Marketing Manager’ position in your company’s new branch in our city. However, I am unable to accept this offer because of my ongoing employment contract with my current employer. In the meeting, I informed you about my current job of a Branch Coordinator in an insurance company but I did not talk about the employment bond.

It would be great for me to join your team but unfortunately I have completed only one year with the present employer, which is half of the tenure of the contract. Anyhow, since I cannot accept the offer, I would recommend a friend who has four years of experience in the field of marketing and sales.

I sincerely apologize for turning down this excellent opportunity at the moment but would definitely check with you once my present contract is over. It would be a privilege to work with you and your team in the future. Thank you very much for considering my profile for this job.

Yours faithfully,
Aman Singh

Dear Avinash,

The memories of the time spent together with you last month still makes me and everyone with whom I share jovial. Your company made the escapade have a life time imprint on me and there is no way as big to thank you for being an amazing host.

The mundane routine of my work life called for the holiday to Darjeeling and so I packed my bag and informed you so hastily. I had planned only a day visit to your house and the rest to be a lone discovery. However, on reaching your place, the warm welcome that I received from you and your wife, filled me with joy. Moreover, Darjeeling is one of the best places I have ever been to and you surely live in heaven. The amazing sun rise at Tiger Hill, the bonfire at your place and toy train ride that we had together was remarkable.

I am sending you with this letter the photographs of the beautiful time that we spent together. Hoping to have many more holidays with you all.
