You should say:

    • Why did you have the disagreement?
    • Was the issue resolved? If yes, how?
Sample Answer

Disagreements are a part of our daily life especially when it comes to our loved ones. Today I would like to delve upon a situation when I had a huge disaccord with my bosom friend, Shefali.

I vividly remember one day on a fine Saturday evening, after having our dinner we were chilling out in my room with a bunch of our few other friends, when one of them suddenly started talking about Euthanasia. And I shared my opinion by disagreeing to the mercy killing of animals to which she was quite not satisfied with my answer, and we started arguing about it. Initially it was more like a discussion but as the time passed by it turned out to be a huge argument between both of us. It continued for at least forty-five minutes when others interrupted us and asked us to calm down and politely put forth our views.

Sadly, we did not arrive at any common conclusion and agreed to disagree since we both are strongly opinionated which is what also makes her a really close pal of mine. Sometimes our obstinate personalities clash whenever there is a heated argument going on, but at the end of the day we always find our way back to each other.

Overall, this was a time when I had a disagreement with my friend.

Speaking -Part 3 (Follow up questions)
Here are some examples of follow up questions that examiner may ask during your speaking (part 3) related to cue card ‘Describe a time you had a disagreement with someone’.

Q1. If there is a disagreement, what do you do?
Well, I generally tend to avoid getting into arguments, especially with outsiders. Still if I do, I make sure that I do not get rude to the person, rather I leave the person with his opinion rather than trying to change it as everyone is entitled to have their own individual opinion.

Q2. Who do you think should teach children to respect- teachers or parents?
I firmly believe that it is not the responsibility of just any one of them, but rather both teachers and parents are accountable for a child’s overall behavior with every individual who is around him. Thus, schoolteachers should pay heed to their students and make sure to inculcate important values such as respecting not just elders but everyone. Moreover, parents should look after them.

    • And explain how you felt about it?
Sample Answer

Well, I am a bibliophile and so I love reading books and novels. But today I would like to talk about a novel that I was really intrigued by, the book is a trilogy and consists of three parts. The immortals of Melua by Amish Tripathi is the first among the three and is my favorite.

I first came to know about it when I went to a book fare organized by my school, and I was so delighted to attend it. I strolled around different book stalls until my attention was shifted to one of the shops where they were selling books from my favorite genre, that is fictional mythology. After going through the prologue of several novels, I finally came across the one I could really relate to and purchased it.

I started reading it during my summer holidays when I was at my grandmother’s place. As I delved deeper into the story, I grew more and more inquisitive about the upcoming events. What amazed me the most were the characters of the novel who were so meticulously woven in the storyline that by the end of the story each character individually shows character development. Moreover, the story includes a plethora of elements, like plot twist and irony with a slight touch of humor to it. Additionally, the mythology is very carefully entwined and is not offensive to anyone who is reading it. I completed it in less than a week and was content with the story so much so that I read the remaining two parts of the trilogy as well.

So overall this was a novel that was particularly interesting to me.

I felt awful as soon as I took a spoon full of it I felt terrible around halfway through the meal. I quickly made my way to the restroom, and then spent about 20 minutes puking in a public restroom. My companion hurriedly ran to check on me. Fortunately, everything worked out well. It was unmistakably established that the food was stale and that this was the only factor in my eventual puking. When we explained the matter to the manager, he was quite sympathetic and acknowledged that it is a fault on their end and that they should have checked before serving us. Still, I did not lose my calm and waited for it until the product was delivered to my doorstep. To my astonishment, when I unpacked it, I was really annoyed as the product was not the same as it was shown online. The color was different, and the quality was even worse.

Disappointed with the product, I decided to get my refund but there was not any response. After consistent calling, they finally understood and assured me of the full refund. But I had to wait for days before I finally got my money back in my bank account.
