Historic structures serve as a reminder of our rich history and former splendour. Since I was little, I have always been fascinated by history. I used to read a lot and study the history of ancient times. I never pass up the opportunity to tour historical sites. It’s an intriguing encounter. I paid my aunt, who resides in Delhi, a visit last year. I had the chance to explore the Red Fort, one of India’s most popular tourist destinations, there. It is among the world’s seven wonders. It’s a massive red-painted palace. It was our first visit there.

The enormous gate that welcomed us was a stunning work of art. Many notable historical buildings remain, including Hira Mahal, Mumtaz Mahal, Rang Mahal, Meena Bazaar, and many more, despite the fact that the majority of buildings are either shattered or severely damaged. With a long history, Meena Bazaar is a well regarded destination for retrophiliac and antiquarian enthusiasts. In the past, it was mostly exclusive to women—royal ladies and noblemen’s wives, to start. It used to happen exclusively on designated days of the week or on significant occasions.

Nowadays, Meena Bazar is held every day from the afternoon till the evening, which has somewhat modified the situation. In addition to the massive garden’s doubled attractiveness due to its abundance of seasonal flowers and plants, I also saw a few peacocks. Overall, the Red Fort is a symbol of great Mughal architecture and prowess in the past.

I am fond of adventure, and I believe it ignites the hidden adventurist in me. I had thalassophobia since childhood until I tried rafting at Rishikesh. Whenever I visit Rishikesh in the summer, I make sure to try rafting. It is a thrilling water sport that intrigues many people these days. Today, I will be sharing my first rafting experience, which I had with my best friend. My best friend is a native of Rishikesh; he has been asking me to give rafting a try for a long time, but I couldn’t go. In 2021, on the occasion of his birthday, we decided to give it a final short. We straightaway went to the person who conducts this activity. After signing the contract, the instructor guided us about the safety measures we needed to follow. To be honest, I was frightened to see the Maa Ganga River. She looked calm from outside but was extremely fugitive inside. Before starting the ride, I greeted Maa Ganga, as she is the most worshipped goddess in our culture, who nurtures this planet and is said to remove everyone’s sin. When the ride started, I was very nervous, but as it went on, I gained confidence and got extremely excited. It was indeed a thrilling experience to face the real power of water. It feels absolutely magnificent to be swimming in the middle of Ganga Ji. Since then, I have tried this activity more than five times; it was a surreal experience I have had in my life.

Answer. The major reasons are undoubtedly thrills and excitement. However, I also believe one of the best parts of completing an adventure is reminiscing about the old memories that were created. Trying adventure adds colors to life that will never fade away.
3. How do exciting activities relieve people’s stress?
Answer. Thrilling activities act as fuel to burn stress. It diverts a puzzled mind to a happy and cheerful one. It allows us to experience the wonders that life holds for us. These activities are far more than just a momentary action; they give us a zest that will stick with us forever.

Learning is a continuous process that one undergoes throughout all his life. Schools are the starting phase of this journey where we learn a lot about various subjects. Such lessons stay with us all our lives. I still remember most of what I was taught in school but one particular lesson that I learned in my fifth standard math class is memorable.

I was taught mental math in a lesson during my fifth grade. Mental math is a way to calculate answers for simple mathematical problems using quick calculation skills and facts about mathematics. It helps me quickly solve various complex problems by the use of methods such as division, multiplication or addition. Practising mental math can enable us to mentally calculate without the need of writing. I have practised the lesson to set it in my memory. It is effective, faster, and aids during tough situations that might require quick and logical thinking.

During this lesson I learned various methods to make calculations in different ways which save time during tests or other real-life situations. This lesson also motivated me to practice such exercises to become more adept at estimation and computation of larger figures eliminating the use of pen and paper. I am thankful to my school for providing me with such useful knowledge which is of practical importance in my everyday life.

Q1: Why do people learn maths?
Absolutely! Maths is one of the most important subjects taught in school. It builds our basic understanding of how things work. It helps in the development of the brain and enhances our cognition capability. Basics of mathematics like addition, subtraction, etc are something that we use in our everyday lives. Even a little kid wanting to buy candy would quickly make a calculation in his head about how many candies he can get. From candies to corporations, everything runs on mathematics. Thus, it is an indispensable part of learning.

Q2: How is maths helpful in our daily lives?
In my opinion, Maths is very useful in our daily lives. We need to make hundreds of calculations in a given day. Starting with grocery shopping to how we take our business forward, everything needs mathematics. Mathematics is also fundamental in the development of a child’s brain and kids who are better at maths have more chances of being more successful in life.

Q3: Should maths be compulsory for all students to learn?
Well, I think basic maths should be a part of our learning as it is indispensable to our day-to-day lives, and we can’t get away from it. However, some aspects of mathematics like advanced algebra and trigonometry can be done away with as these are too complex to be used by non-professionals and students can learn other more useful subjects instead.

Travelling is wonderful to experience and learn new things. I am a person who enjoys travelling and exploring new places. Travelling according to me is a great way to relax and unwind while making new experiences and memories.

Talking about a faraway place, it is an island named Bali in Indonesia. One of the most charming places in the world, it is a bouquet of beauty. It is famous for its volcanic mountains, beaches, sunset scenes, coral reefs, resort towns, temples and many more local landmarks. One can relax here in many ways and there is a lot to do and to explore.

I came to know about the island from a friend who had visited there last year. I looked it up on the internet and was instantly smitten by its natural beauty. The intriguing geographical characteristics of the island make for a host of wonderful places to visit, which is really interesting. My probable visit here would be in January next year and would be relatively easier than any other country like Canada or the United Kingdom. The visa process is very easy and the travel costs are affordable. The Indonesian currency is very cheap in comparison to the Indian rupee making the food and lodging costs highly affordable for the Indian visitors.

I have already visited and explored most of the Indian states and enjoyed the things they have to offer. I now wish to explore other lands to experience new cultures, meet new people, and to have a glimpse of what the other parts of the world look like. These are a few reasons as to why I wish to travel to Bali for a vacation.

Q1: Why do people like visiting different places?
People, irrespective of where they live, get bored easily and want to experience new things once in a while. It’s because of this that tourism is one of the biggest industries of the world. People want to see how other people live, what their lifestyle is like, and what kinds of food they eat. With exposure to the internet, more and more people are aware of different places and cultures and thus would like to visit these places.

Q2: With whom do you go on vacation?
I prefer to go out with my friends. Once, I went with my family on a hiking trip, and it wasn’t a pleasurable experience. My parents weren’t able to climb quickly, and because of them, I had to keep on stopping from time to time. Moreover, our tastes don’t align, and we end up arguing where we should visit and what we should do. With friends, it’s relatively simple as we all have the same taste and requirements.

Q3: What all preparations do you do when visiting new places?
First of all, the kind of clothes I am going to wear while visiting other places depends on the weather conditions of that place. If it’s warm, then, of course, I would pack light. However, if it’s going to be cold, I would have to carry double the luggage with all the coats, jackets, etc. I also take into account the local customs of the place and try to wear the clothes that are not too different from the local attire. Locals always appreciate when we take the effort to appreciate their culture and their customs.
