 Ielts band 7 road traffic

SAMPLE ANSWER

Nowadays, traffic congestion has become a major concern in many cities across the globe. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this problem and suggest possible measures that can be implemented to handle the situation.

One of the major reasons is that the ownership of vehicles has increased in the past few years which leads to soaring number of automobiles on roads. According to some reports, Hong Kong experienced one of the biggest traffic congestions in 2014 which lasted for more than 24 hours. Secondly, in many cities the infrastructure for public transport is not fully developed and it is not available for the entire day. Due to which people prefer to use private mode of transport over public transport. Thirdly, many cities around the world are not built with proper planning and also there are narrow roads which obstruct people from commuting.

Certain measures can be taken to deal with this situation. Firstly, government should increase the quality of public transport by providing frequent services. In addition to this, fares of government transportation should also be reduced in order to promote it. Another measure is to construct wide roads and bridges so that traffic can move smoothly during peak hours. Furthermore, separate cycle lanes should be constructed and people should be encouraged to ride bicycles. Finally, major city centres or crowded places of the city must be declared car free and fine should be imposed on those who do not follow the rules.

To sum up, by developing public transport and making rules stringent, the problem of traffic congestion can be reduced to a great extent.

Speaking -Part 3 (Follow up questions)

Q1. Are traffic jams common in Indian cities?

Indeed, in many Indian states, traffic congestion has grown to be a significant problem. Since there are more automobiles on the road, there are more accidents and traffic congestion problems. The main Indian states with the worst traffic problems are Delhi, Mumbai, and Calcutta.

Q2. What can be done to improve traffic related issues?

I think the government should strictly enforce the laws regarding the number of automobiles allotted to each individual. People also need to be informed on the laws and guidelines that they must abide by when driving.

Celebrations are part of life that gives life to our lives. Special events become reunions, allowing far-flung family members to see each other in the context of celebrating their loved ones and bringing people together in unity, harmony, and peace. Fortunately, I have been part of numerous celebrations so today, I will be mentioning one such special event.

Just like everyone else, I eagerly wait to celebrate my birthday with my near and dear ones. My birthday happens on the 28th of January which makes January a special month for me. Last year my parents and friends arranged a surprise party for my birthday. After returning from work my friend called me to accompany her to the market. She picked me up from my place and we both left my home. Meanwhile, my parents and friends decorated the house with streamers and balloons. After spending two hours in the market we returned home. I rang the bell on my door and, to my surprise, no one came I tried to open the door, and it was unlocked. Once I opened it all my friends and family plunged from the floor and shouted out loud- “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! I was astounded.

My friends bought a special birthday cake for me. It was a chocolate cake, with juicy cherries on the top. They also presented me with a super sweet card with my photos on it. On top of that, my parents handed me a gift, I was so curious and wanted to open it right away and so I did inside it was my first laptop, I started crying in happiness as I had always wanted a laptop. Then finally we cut the cake at midnight marking the end of the day! My family and friends had given me the greatest surprise I could ever imagine. My last birthday was one of the most beautiful moments, and I will cherish it forever.

IELTS Cue Card 2024 : Describe a television programme that you watch

Describe a television programme that you watch.

You should say:

  • What kind of television programme it is ?
  • What usually happens in the television programme ?
  • Why you enjoy watching the television programme ?

And explain why you would recommend the television programme to the other people.

Sample Answer:

I don’t watch TV so often but whenever I find a chance I always try and watch a real documentary show called “Kings of Restoration”. It is featured on the History Channel. I used to team up with my dad as a child and watch it with uttermost fascination. It is a great show for anyone who has an interest in the glams of art and creativity.

The show starts with the announcement of what product they have received recently for restoration. Rick Dale, the owner and the host along with his team explores the product and tell us about its current condition and what ideas they have on fixing it. They get a variety of products from old broken vending machines to automobiles. They work hands in hands and efficiently to get the original raw parts and prepare the basic designs. The show telecasts the way they work on each of the old part. As a child this really impressed me.

I love watching the show for a list of reasons. This show holds memories with my dad. As both of us have a deep profound interest in the minimal working of stuff, we would often talk over our own suggestions and ideas while watching it. The television programme has helped me come up with lot of creative solutions for my old goods and helped me restore stuff that isn’t in use anymore. The best part about the show was always the ending scene when they finally give away the restored product to the owner and leaves everyone of us including the customer enthralled and amazed. I recommend this show to everyone as it’s a perfect Sunday afternoon show for both the young and old. It not only entertains the viewers but also provides lot of knowledge at the same time.

IELTS Cue Card 2024 – Describe a time when you borrowed something from someone

Congratulation Ankur for Ireland visa

Describe a time when you borrowed something from someone.

You should know:

  • What did you borrow?
  • How did it help you?
  • What lesson, if any, did you learn from your experience?

Oh! I remember a time when I was appearing in my final exams in class twelfth. I was taking an exam and suddenly I ran out of ink. A day prior, I had planned to buy a new pen, but then it slipped out of my mind, and I forgot to buy it. Making things worse, Mr. Cloyd was our invigilator that day. He was one of the most feared teachers in our school. He was known for his discipline and his strict demeanor. He was certainly not the kind of person you would go to for help. I hesitantly asked him if I could borrow a pen from someone. Contrary to my expectations, he pulled out a pen out of his pocket and gave it to me. On top of that, there was a smile on his face. An hour later when I went to return it to his office he asked me to keep the pen and wished me good luck for my future.

I don’t know what got into him that day, but his kind gesture really left me stunned. I had always thought of him as someone to be the last person who would provide any kind of help but there he was, helping me in my time of need. We humans tend to make our opinions very quickly. We have this propensity of judging people, even before we know them well. I learnt from this experience that it’s always better to avoid having any preconceived notions about people, and to really make judgments about them only after we know them well. (294 words)
