Speaking -Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a problem you had while shopping online.

You should say:

    • When did it happen?
    • What did you buy?
    • What problem did you have?
    • And explain how you felt about the experience.
Sample Answer
Once, while shopping online for a new laptop, I encountered an unexpected problem. I had carefully researched and selected a model that met my requirements and budget. Excitedly, I added it to my cart, proceeded to checkout, and completed the payment process.
However, the problem arose when I received the confirmation email. To my surprise, the email listed a different laptop model from the one I had chosen. Concerned, I immediately contacted customer support. The response was delayed, and when it finally came, it lacked a proper solution. This began a frustrating cycle of back-and-forth emails, each response taking longer than the last.
Eventually, after several days of trying to resolve the issue, I decided to call customer support. This turned out to be a tedious process, as I had to navigate through various automated options before finally reaching a human representative. They acknowledged the mistake and assured me that the correct laptop would be shipped.
Despite the inconvenience, the situation highlighted the importance of thorough checking and timely customer support. It also underscored the challenges of online shopping, where mistakes can happen due to technical glitches or miscommunication. The experience taught me to keep a record of all interactions and to be persistent when resolving such issues.
In the end, the correct laptop did arrive, and I appreciated the device, but the ordeal left me more cautious when making online purchases and wary of potential mishaps.

Describe a time when you helped a child.

You should say:

    • When it was?

    • Why you helped him/her?
    • And how you felt about it?
Sample Answer

Once upon a sunny day, I saw a little kid who looked lost in a big park. The kid seemed really worried and was looking around with watery eyes. I went up to them and squatted down to talk, giving them a friendly smile. I asked if everything was okay and where their family might be. The kid slowly told me they got separated from their parents while playing.

In a soft voice, I said things would get better. I asked for their parents’ names and tried calling them, but nobody answered. I thought the kid might be getting even more worried, so I suggested we go to the park’s help center. Holding their hand, we walked there and talked to the people working. They made an announcement on the speakers, saying the parents’ names and where they were.

Not long after, the kid’s parents hurried to the help center, looking worried but happy when they saw the child. They hugged them tight and said thanks a lot for taking care of them. Seeing the family back together made me feel really good, and I was happy I could help when they were so worried. As they left, I couldn’t help but smile, feeling glad that I could bring some peace to the kid and their family.

You should say:

    • What activities can you do at this place?
    • How often do you go there?
Sample Answer

Health is wealth, an adage that I follow religiously, especially in this contemporary period where health is often neglected due to increased workload and indolence. To keep up with my health, I perform various activities like swimming, yoga, and running; among these, my favourite is yoga. Doing yoga fills me with vitality and invigorates me both physically and mentally. I perform it in an open place that is 100 meters away from my home. One can perform numerous activities since it has a large space that can accommodate many people without any inconvenience, but since it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it doesn’t have many visitors; only those who live nearby are seen. The place has a calm and verdant environment. I regularly visit that place with my friends and sometimes even independently. The place is completely safe, as it is guarded by the army. The place is much cleaner than any other place in my town.
