Speaking -Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe a positive change in your life.

You should say:

  • What the change was about?
  • When it happened?
  • Describe details of the change happened.
Sample Answer

Change is the law of nature. While a portion of these changes might slip through the cracks, others can get a few positives and transform us wholly as a human. Today, I would like to talk about one such upswing I inculcated in myself .The major positive change I developed was punctuality, as I can recall of my old school days when I was always behind time and would stand in the defaulter line followed by a long remark on my diary. But I didn’t pay much attention to it because of my casual attitude and careless behaviour.

I always knew that I was capable of change, but I never realised that punctuality would be one of the positive evolutions I would be going through until a few years ago, when I first started going to college. I can still think of the time, when it was my first day at college and, being my usual casual self, was almost fifteen minutes late as always for the class. But to my astonishment, professor Banerjee did not expel me from the class but rather punished me to take the lecture for the next day on a given topic ,while everyone else would just listen carefully. This cycle continued for some days, until I finally realised that it was high time I changed the narrative, and so, finally on the fourth day of my college for the very first time, I was on schedule.

To be honest, I felt weirdly amazing and decided that no matter what, I need to instill this positive development as part of my hobby or routine maybe. The greatest self-realisation I had after ingraining this change was, in order to have one’s time respected, one needed to respect others time as well, and ever since then, this has been the only constant change I have followed. I staunchly reckon that this has been a favourable evolution, as I have grown to become a more responsible and sincere person, who takes her work seriously and has created a good work life balance. Had it not been for this change, I would not be where I am today, both in my career and on a personal level. Thus, punctuality has now become an integral part of my existence, and I love to be prompt.

So, this was an affirmative change I had in my life.

We get valuable life lessons from stories, including how to deal with rejection and fear. Most of the stories were probably stories with moral lessons. I grew up listening to numerous stories from my parents and grandparents. Perhaps it is one of the clearest and cherished memories of my childhood.

Every night, before tucking me into bed, my grandmother would read me a story. I must say that she was an extremely beautiful raconteur.

Once upon a time, there was a king. He was very rich and had lots of Gold. He had a daughter, who he loved a lot. One day he helped an angel who in return agreed to grant him a wish. The king wished for a power to turn things into gold, angel immediately fulfilled his wish. On his way home, he touched rocks and plants which changed into gold. The king was on seventh heaven. As he reached home, in excitement he hugged his daughter, who turned into gold. The king was devastated seeing her beloved daughter who has now turned into a golden stone.

His greed became a reason of his agony. The king learned his lesson and realized his mistake and that was the moral of the story. I reckon, greed and has become a common social evil that persuade people to take wrong decision. I was really impressed by the moral and did implement it in my life.

CUE CARD – Describe an interesting conversation you had with your friend

Speaking -Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe an interesting conversation you had with your friend.

  • Who you spoke with ?
  • Where were you?
  • What the conversation was about?
  • And explain why you think it was interesting
Sample Answer 1

Well, I think conversations serve as a great way of exchanging ideas and sharing each other’s thoughts, so I would like to take this opportunity to talk about one of the very interesting conversations that I had with one of my closest friends.

I still remember during that time I was in my college hostel and I used to share the dormitory with my bosom friend and it was a usual weekend night and we both were tired by the week long tedious classes and never ending assignments, until Riya started sharing one of the haunting encounters, she had while she was in her grandmother’s house in the village. It was at that moment when I dropped my work and shifted my attention towards her.

The conversation got intense when she started sharing the ghost stories that we all heard growing up, from our grandparents and the room’s environment became all hushed and frightening at the same time. Although, I opposed the idea of supernatural existence and said that it is just a hoax to generate fear in the listeners mind, but she felt that ghosts are real things and not something made up to entertain folks. The conversation started getting all heated up, but, at the same time, particularly interesting one as well.

The reason why I was piqued by this conversation is because, unlike other random discussions, this one was genuinely nerve racking at the moment, and something that cannot be completely denied. Also, the experiences that she shared was eye-opening and, the chills ran down my spine. Since, then I also started believing in supernatural beings.

Sample Answer 2

Conversations are the mode of sharing ideas, knowledge and feelings. I have been part of numerous conversation with my friends and family. Sometimes, the conversation get too interesting and engaging that we often lose track of the time. So, today I would like to talk about one such conversation.

I had the conversation, with my childhood friend Sri jana Rana, who lives adjacent to my house. We have many similar interest. As we both are bibliophile, so most of our discussions are about books and our genre in books is fiction. So, the conversation I will be mentioning today, was about a newly launched fictional book “The Immortals of Melhua” written by Amish Tripathi.

We both were sharing our reviews about the book and were totally blown away by it. Amish Tripathi had nicely blended mythology, historical and archeological facts in this book. The way of storytelling was mind blowing. Each chapter had something new and interesting to tell the reader. My friend is a voracious reader, she got all three books of the series and finished it within a week. She mentioned, that the book made her so restless, that she had to take a day off to finish it. Besides, books we also talk about music, movies, fashion and other trendy topics. Overall, that was the interesting conversation that I had with my friend.
