SAMPLE ANSWER

When we talk about childhood, the first memories that we can recall are of our good times spent in school. I studied in Convent of Jesus & Mary, Dehradun. It is one of the most prestigious and oldest schools in Dehradun. Even though many years have passed since I left school, I vividly remember the impressive layout and architecture of my school.

There was a huge church at the entrance. After the church, there was a beautiful garden on one side and the rows of colourful seasonal flowers gave a warm welcome. All the students walked along this floral path towards the main building. A sense of calm pervaded over me when I stepped into the school every morning and walked down towards the main building.

The junior and senior sections had dedicated buildings. A vast playground separated the two wings. The playground was fully equipped with swings, monkey bars and sea-saws. Swings were my favourite. It was a routine for me to reach early so that I could play on the swings for few minutes before going to my class.

All the teachers in my school were very loving and caring. Throughout my schooling we were taught how to lead a disciplined life. The focus was on all round development and the teachers encouraged the students to participate in a range of extracurricular activities, from dramatics, dancing, singing to sports. The personality of every student was nurtured with utmost responsibility.

I consider myself fortunate to attend this school. Whatever I have achieved today the credit for it goes to the dedication of my school teachers.

Sample Answer

The way people spend their leisure time changes dramatically as they age. Old people mostly spend their time watching television or listening to the radio. I remember my grandfather wasn’t much interested in watching TV but he was big on the news. He used to listen to the news every night religiously, and then he would have a sort of round-table discussion over the current issues with his friends.

Another way old people get together is when they meet for a walk. They never miss a chance to catch up with their buddies while they get themselves some fresh air in the park every day. They would, actually, talk more but walk less. But it’s good. Old people need someone to talk to otherwise they feel very lonely and left out.

The third most common way of spending time for old people is to have fun with their grandchildren. In joint families, it’s mostly the grandparents who spend their time with the little children while their parents are busy at work. It is thought that since they were too busy while raising their own kids, old people now can sort of compensate it and enjoy their time frolicking with the toddlers.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Some people can talk endlessly for many hours, and surprisingly, they never feel bored. On the other side, I am the type of individual who would prefer solace and speaking the bare minimum. At my workplace, I’m surrounded by many talkative individuals. Ritu happens to be one of them. She is my lovely colleague who has a pleasing personality. She is tall with dusky complexion and possesses a beautiful smile.

Ritu is an absolute talker, so having her around will keep anyone entertained. She is not limited to any one subject to discourse on; rather, she is self-sufficient. Ritu has a lot of talents, but her sense of humour makes her the ultimate performer. She does stand-up comedy and completely nails it during our holiday meetings and business get-togethers. She can, however, occasionally become a bit annoying and challenging to manage. Ritu once received a severe reprimand from our manager for talking nonstop about the product at a meeting.

I believe she was making every effort to impress the clients but she was unable to control her tendency to talk excessively. The client found too much information confusing and didn’t show much interest in our services. Fortunately, the deal was saved by one of our brilliant negotiators. I believe, she has a kind heart, but sometimes her overly chatty personality gets her into problems.

Q1. What communication skills are important?
I believe verbal communication and the skill of confidently stating one’s opinion are very essential. Moreover, I would like to add the importance of being a good listener for having smooth communication in conversation.

Q2. What jobs need employees to be talkative?
Jobs related to sales and marketing require employees to be expressive and have the ability to convince people. Additionally, people working at radio stations, especially radio jockeys, are expected to be entertaining by cracking jokes and talking a lot.

Q3. Should children be encouraged to talk more?
Well, children should definitely learn to present themselves without being scared, and learning communication skills will definitely help them in the long run. What needs to be closely checked is knowing what to say and where to say it. Being a good communicator requires a person to know how much to say and how to convey their opinion without being rude or disrespectful.

Music has no boundaries and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Today, I’d like to talk about my brother, who is a music enthusiast. His entire life revolves around music.
For my brother, music is not just a mere form of entertainment but a therapy that rejuvenates people and provides inner peace. He is also extremely fascinated by different genres, their history, and the musical instruments used to produce the beautiful tones that captivate our minds. I’ve seen him researching the types of music and how and when they originated, which sometimes makes no sense to me, but then I realise: Is this what is being called crazy about something?
I sometimes talk with him about music, and his answers surprise me. Conversations with him often circle back to music. When he listens to music, he doesn’t hear it; instead, he tries to absorb each detail of the song. He loves listening to all genres, but I feel the ones he is crazy about are classical and rock music.
I don’t know exactly how much the knowledge of music is helpful and how far it would take my brother. However, seeing him, I’ve realised that one needs to be passionate enough to learn something new. With time, patience and practice, we can achieve everything we aim for.
