Sample Answer :

Making decisions by myself has always been the most difficult part about growing up. I’ve at times preferred introspecting by myself and at very major situations I’ve discussed the issue with my family and friends. One decision that I’ve struggled to make in my life was that about what stream to pursue after my high school. My parents thought that the field of technology was appropriate for me while on the other hand I felt that I could do so much better with arts. I made this decision when I was 19 years of old, just after finishing my 12th grade. My parents never forced their decision upon me instead they always advised me to pursue what my heart wanted. My dad always suggested that I should do what I thought was best for me. Everyone assumed my decision to be immature and stupid and thought that I was a fool.

But after giving time and thought to the decision making and keeping in mind the several issues and perspective I decided to get myself enrolled to a university that offers degree in designing. I’m very happy that I made this decision. I’ve yet a year to finish my graduation but throughout the last 3 years I have enjoyed working on lot of creative projects and I am doing quite well academically.

I must point out that making this choice was not easy and I had to go through a very hard time. I had to fight a lot with my inner self and then convince my parents for the same. There were always lot of potential risks of picking the option I prefer my parents would have complained if I hadn’t made a success out of myself. I still remember the sleepless nights and dubious feelings I had that time. Sometimes I thought of giving up on my passion and yield to my parents’ decision and but I made myself realise that I shouldn’t give up so easily on something that I’m really good at. Since I made my own choice at that time, a strong urge and force worked on me that I have to do really good and I am happy that I took my decision and doing very good so far.

IELTS Cue Card # Famous Person

IELTS Cue Card # Famous Person

Describe a famous person you would like to meet.
You should say:

  • who is he/ she
  • why do you want to meet him/ her
  • why he is famous
  • and explain what would you do if you meet him/ her.

famous-person, September 4, 2018 Chief Editor Leave a comment Edit Post IELTS BAND7 Cue Card DEHRADUN

SAMPLE ANSWER ONE

There are more than seven billion people on this planet and not everyone is well known. Famous people are all over the world and we all like to follow them and know about them. Although there are quite a few personalities that I follow, one individual that I am a big fan of is Kailash Satyarthi. He is a social activist who has been working against atrocities committed in the society and has pledged his life towards the eradication of child labour.
He is a Nobel Peace Prize winner of the year 2014 and is the founder of the organisation called Bachpan bachao andolan (BBA) which translates to “Save Childhood movement”. He founded the organisation in late 1990’s and has been working as a socialite ever since. As we know committing crime is very easy in our country and due to poverty and lack of education millions of kids are forced to work when they should be at school and enjoying their childhood. A learned man, Satyarthi is a chemical engineer by profession. He left his lucrative career and he has liberated more than 80,000 child labours since he took the initiative.
In these modern times where the world is so selfish it is very difficult to come across a man who has done so much for the society without thinking about himself. It would be a great honour to meet a man of such stature and magnitude who has received so many accolades and awards for his relentless humanitarian work. His approach to life and selfless attitude is something that never fails to amaze me. He is a true hero and an inspiration for millions in my country.

SAMPLE ANSWER TWO

There have been many personalities I have followed but the one that has truly made an impact on my life has to be Oprah Winfrey. I believe she is a true example of how following your dreams can let you live a meaningful life. Being raped as a child and told that it is her duty to do the household work, she did not let these negativities hold her back. The fact that she believed that she is meant to be successful is what amazes me the most. The reason I really want to meet her is because

She signifies to be as a person who does not think of the issues ahead, rather the great work that needs to be done. This makes it so much more intimidating to meet her. And what I have learned about her is that she has actually lived a balanced life. I wish to learn from her the way of balancing the life and making difference in other people’s life.

I think the day I meet her I would ask her five advice for my life because I do trust that they will be great ones!

SAMPLE ANSWER THREE

If there ever is a famous person I would like to meet, it has to be Raghuram Rajan. He has been one of the most successful RBI governors our country had. Even more, he became the Economic Counselor and Director of Research of the International Monetary Fund, the youngest ever. What made all eyes turning to him is his prediction of the 2008 global crisis.

I am not an economist and neither do understand it well. But I really wish to understand what goes inside one of the most brilliant minds of our country. He has been one of those people who has actually allowed the economy of our country to boost. Over time, we all have seen that when his advice was given consideration, there were losses prevented. However, when they were avoided, we have paid the price.

I want to meet him and know his opinion on our country and what he thinks is the right thing for our country. There is something in me that tells that we as young people should definitely do for our country. I would like to interact with him and know how doing what I love can I do something for my country.

IELTS CUE CARD: STATE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT

IELTS CUE CARD: STATE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT

IELTS CUE CARD: STATE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT. You should say:

  • What are different types of public transport systems
  • What is the benefit of public transport
  • How to maintain public transportation vehicles
  • Explain what you feel about their usage in your country
IELTS CUE CARD: STATE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT, IELTS BAND7 DEHRADUN
Sample Answer

Public transport is one of the most economical and easily accessible modes of reaching different places in our country. These are available in various forms like Metro Trains, buses, EMU trains and government approved taxi services. These transport systems are the best via media to commute in today’s fast moving world. Due to its nominal rates even a common man is able to move without burning his pocket. Government promotes public transport as it not only helps to reduce heavy traffic, but also helps to keep pollution under control.
Though public transport is of great assistance but it is disheartening to see the state of the vehicles especially the buses and the EMUs. It is the responsibility of the citizens to help the authorities to keep these transport facilities clean and hygienic. Most of us do not respect the law and make these vehicles dirty which reflect our society in a very negative way.
Like in Metro Trains, there should be strict laws so as to impose heavy fines if someone is found littering and spoiling public transport .Media should also be made responsible to create awareness and more and more people should be educated to respect this wonderful facility provided by the Government.

IELTS Cue Card # Design of a building you visited and liked

IELTS Cue Card, Design of a building you visited and liked

Describe a design of a building you visited and liked

  • where is the building
  • when you visited
  • why you liked

Explain why you found the building very interesting

Sample Answer

I have had the opportunity to visit various regions and states in my country, thanks to my father’s transferable job. It’s been two years since we came to Dehradun and we have exploited every chance to go around the places located in and around this picturesque landscape. Just last month I accompanied my dad on his tour to Nainital, one of the famous hill stations of India. Before embarking on my journey, I made my bucket list of the places to visit in Nainital. Amongst them was a tour of the Governor’s house-known for its magnificent looks and age-old charming gothic style architecture. Rajbhavan was built by the British during pre-independence era. It is spread over more than 200 acres of land having around 70 rooms. The golf course of Raj Bhavan is one of the vintage golf courses in India. A splendid garden, a swimming pool and lush green vast area of deodar and oak trees increase the attractiveness of this building.
I was spellbound to witness the royal Burma teakwood staircase and brilliantly carved , elaborate window panels. Also, rich sprawling gardens and golf course are a treat for the eyes. The beauty of this monument will always remain fresh in my mind. (205 Words.)

Follow Up Questions about Building

Q1 . Do you think the governments should maintain the historical buildings?
ANS I personally believe that the historical monuments are our pride and heritage. They are of paramount importance not only due to their educational value but tourism potential also. Therefore, the governments should take it in their endeavour to preserve and restore these monuments.

Q2 . Why do people like to visit historical buildings?
ANS There are number of reasons why people visit old age monuments like forts, palaces, temples etc. The primary reason is that international tourists like to witness the beauty and splendor of these building apart from gaining an insight into the culture and traditions of the country they have travelled into. Secondly, the natives find it satisfying to reminisce about their rich past and making younger generations connect with it.

Q3 . What kinds of buildings are popular in India?
ANS India is a developing country and modernization is evident from the various multistorey edifices that have come up all over India. For instance, shopping malls, airports, office complexes etc. However, my country has had a rich past, traces of which can be seen in archaeological monuments in different regions of India. These historical buildings, temples, forts and palaces have influences of Mughal and British style architecture. These buildings are in fact the major tourist attractions.

Q4 . Should governments try to make buildings more beautiful?
ANS In my personal opinion, buildings impart a distinct identity to a particular place. A town or a megacity is remembered through its monuments or skyscrapers. A good example here would be the city of Jaipur, in Rajasthan which is known as pink city due to efforts of the government and people to give it a unique character. Also, clean, well painted and attractive buildings are aesthetically appealing.
