Sample Answer

I am from a small town. I haven’t had enough opportunity to visit many places out of my home city. There is one particular metropolitan city where I always dream of visiting that is the capital city of India, New Delhi. Delhi has a lot to offer to everybody. It has a great history. Every stone in Delhi has a story to narrate.
Delhi is known as Lutyens’ Delhi also as the whole design of construction of this city is idealised by the British architect Edwin Lutyens. New Delhi has a lot of monuments reminiscent of the British rule. Delhi is divided into New Delhi and Old Delhi. The house of parliament, the Connaught place and the prime minister’s office are a few structures that can be seen in New Delhi. It has a number of monuments, historical buildings, educational institutes and gardens.
Old Delhi presents all the lively picture of Medieval India. It has many old buildings. The Red fort and Jama Masjid are also situated in Old Delhi. I am excited to visit all these places about which I have been studying and watching since long.
Delhi is a great hub for shopping also. Across the country, people come here for buying and selling things. I am a shopaholic, for me it’s going to be a great experience.

In my country there are many historical monuments. My country is known for its rich cultural heritage. I am from the capital city and there we have many old buildings, some are from Mughal era and some represents the British era. As I have great interest towards history that’s why I have visited many of them like Red Fort, Old Fort and Qutub Minar.

Recently my college organised a historical trip to Agra as this city is famous for the most famous monument of our country that is the Taj Mahal. It is situated on the banks of the river Yamuna and is surrounded by a beautiful garden. The mausoleum is made entirely out of white marble and decorated with many other precious stones.. It is one of the most beautiful historical buildings. It is also one of the seven wonders in the world. This is very famous among people as a symbol of love. It was built by the Mughal emperor, Shahjahan in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died during child birth. It took 20 years of time to construct this pristine beauty. But it has one more story behind it that Shahjahan chopped off the hands of the architect who designed the whole idea of this building. It is said that he never wanted that the world has another monument like Taj Mahal.

It is considered as one of the most romantic tourist spots in the world. Many tourists from all parts of the world come to India to see the beauty of this token of love.

This time we are looking at a cue card that talks about a person you recently met and had a good impression on you.

Describe a person you recently met and you would like to meet him or her more. You should say:

  • who is the person?
  • what did you talk about?
  • why would you like to meet again?

also explain, what impressed you about him or her?

SAMPLE ANSWER

I am a volunteer for a club in our organisation that looks into the grievances of our employees and tries to make the company a better place to work at. Because of this, I often get to meet a lot of new people. Today, I am going to talk about a person who really impressed me. It was the 15th or 16th of May and our group was planning and organizing an event where leaders had to interact with the employees and understand their grievances.

After the event was over, we started heading back to our cubicles when one of the participants came up and started some small talk. After after few days, the guy pinged me and we met over a cup of tea. He told me about so many issues that employees were facing and then we shifted our conversation towards how to improve the organisation. It was a fascinating discussion and we decided to meet again and to do something about it.

The one thing that I really liked about him was that he did not limited himself to just an idle conversation or an event. I saw in him the passion for doing something good and even if took him to places unknown he was ready for it. There are very few people who have the courage and I think he really did inspire and impress me a lot.

The modern lifestyle is definitely a busy one and the workload of studies becomes very tiring sometimes. In such situations, a day off or a holiday is always a welcome treat. I have had many such breaks from work but a memorable experience was during my first job.

It was during the summers right after my graduation and I was working on a project with a deadline that was very near. Soon my team completed the project and we were rewarded with a day off after the submission date. This was a rather unexpected surprise but definitely a pleasant one. It was a Wednesday and I remember having a very tranquil day. In fact, I had spent the whole day unwinding as per my whim more than the usual holidays.

I woke up an hour later than I usually do on weekdays and spent the morning riding my motorcycle to a faraway cafe for a morning ride coupled with a breakfast. Later in the afternoon, I lazed around the house reading a book. I had ordered food from a nearby restaurant as I did not want to cook. In the evening, I went to meet a friend and we had a long conversation with delicious food and cold drinks. I then returned to my house at around ten in the night and drifted off into a deep and comfortable sleep.

Overall, it was a relaxing day because it came as a reward after a lot of hard work. Naturally, I was feeling good about it and wish for more such days to keep coming up on my calendar.
