SAMPLE ANSWER-

Domestic violence is a severe economic and social problem not only for the women but the society on a whole. Coming from a patriarchal society, a majority of women are physically, sexually and emotionally abused by their spouses or in-laws. Today, I would like to talk about a good law which was introduced and passed by the parliament in 2005.

According to this act, any person who has been, or is in a domestic relationship with an abuser can file a complaint against him/her. It’s not necessary for the victim to be in a marriage relationship in order to file a complaint, as being abused in a shared household also comes under Domestic Violence. I got to know about this law in school, while studying Civics. I also implemented it in my real life when a cook working at my house told me about the kind of abuses she was facing at her in-law’s place.

I think most of the people think that it is a vital law which is mandatory for our country. Women of our nation will start taking their stand gradually and get out of men’s control in this male-dominated society. As domestic violence takes place not only in financially weaker families but also in economically stable families, therefore, this law is good for society as a whole.

In my opinion, this law will have a positive impact on our society. Abuses like physical abuse, sexual abuse, verbal or emotional abuse and economic abuse fall under the category of this Act.
The procedure of relief for the women that are included in the Act is residence order, monetary relief, custody orders and compensation orders as well. The court also ensures to provide the victim with safe shelter, medical and legal aid.
