The world around us is changing minute and medicine is increasingly falling under the influence of new technologies to remind individuals when to take treatments, or when it’s time to monitor one’s vitals. The health care industry has become a technology-rich environment and has resulted in the increase of average life expectancy. Modern medicines also play a very important role in making us live a longer life.

Firstly, with the coming awareness, the use of disease preventing vaccines has increased. Today children are vaccinated with a wide range of immunisations that make them virtually immune to common diseases that could have cut their lives short only a century ago.

Secondly, with the introduction of antibodies, major infections get round about. Few decades earlier, if a person had a badly abscessed tooth or an infected flesh wound, there was little that could be done to help them other than strengthening the patient’s natural defenses. However, antibodies tend to knock out majority of infections which would be quite dangerous if left unabated.

Thirdly, the advancement of technology and its role in modern medicine has equipped today’s emergency room surgeons with enough expensive state-of-the-art medical technology to conduct life saving surgeries. Every major city has tens of hospitals with emergency rooms and several urgent care centers. Even more, with several health care insurances and easier communication, one can easily afford health and even more, call ambulance in emergency.

Overall, modern medicines have surely made us a step ahead in the life expectancy mark. One cannot deny the importance of technology and these modern medicines in our lives as we never know if we were alive without any of them.
