Recently Bought Cue Card

SAMPLE ANSWER

E-commerce has come a few years back and changed the way we shopped, at least it has done for me. Recently, I bought a camera online. For a few months, I had been doing my research on the different cameras and found Nikon D5300 a really nice choice. I bought it from Flipkart and it arrived in really good condition. On the first day of its arrival, my friends and us, we all went hitchhiking along the streets of Delhi. We began with Chandani Chowk and then Rashtrapati Bhavan, moving on we went to Akshardham Temple and finally ended our day dancing at my friend’s house.

We clicked amazing photographs and made memories for life. The best thing about the camera was that it was really easy to use and very lightweight. For a very long time, I had enjoyed clicking photographs on other people’s camera and after working for an MNC, being able to buy one for me was a proud moment.

I had been planning on beginning a travel blog for a very long time. The coming of the DSLR had been perfect in my life. With it, not only was I able to click better photographs and learn the use of DSLR, I started getting really nice content for my blog. Looking back at it, sometimes I wonder how would have I done all of it without my camera!

IELTS Cue Card – Describe a time when you borrowed something from someone

Congratulation Ankur for Ireland visa

Describe a time when you borrowed something from someone.

You should know:

  • What did you borrow?
  • How did it help you?
  • What lesson, if any, did you learn from your experience?

Oh! I remember a time when I was appearing in my final exams in class twelfth. I was taking an exam and suddenly I ran out of ink. A day prior, I had planned to buy a new pen, but then it slipped out of my mind, and I forgot to buy it. Making things worse, Mr. Cloyd was our invigilator that day. He was one of the most feared teachers in our school. Everyone knew him for his discipline and his strict demeanor.

He was certainly not the kind of person you would go to for help. I hesitantly asked him if I could borrow a pen from someone. Contrary to my expectation, he pulled out a pen out of his pocket and gave it to me. On top of that, there was a smile on his face. An hour later when I went to return it to his office he asked me to keep the pen and wished me good luck for my future.

I don’t know what changed him that day, but his kind gesture really left me stunned. I had always thought of him as someone to be the last person who would offer any kind of help but there he was, helping me in my time of need. We humans tend to make our opinions very quickly. We have this propensity of judging people, even before we know them well. I learnt a lesson from this experience. It’s always better to avoid having any preconceived notions about people, and to really make judgments about anyone only after knowing them well.

IELTS Speaking Latest Cue Card# Lesiure Activity

The latest cue card is here and we are talking about lesiure activity that you enjoy doing.

Describe a lesiure activity you like doing.
You should say:

  • Where you do it?
  • Who you do it with?
  • Why you enjoy it?
  • And say what kind of people you would recommend that activity to, and why?
Sample Answer:

Today, I’m going to talk about an activity I enjoy doing in my leisure time. It may sound strange but I love watching Bollywood movies. On Sundays, I invite my close friends to my home for a high tea and all of us watch a film together. It is not always a latest movie. Sometimes, we prefer to see old blockbusters which ruled the hearts of millions of Indians in the seventies.
The main reason why I find this activity fun is that I work six days a week, Monday to Saturday. I hardly get time to meet my friends on weekdays. So, this plan acts as a perfect stress buster for all of us. It not only brings us together but also enables us to share our feelings and problems.
Since most of us lead a busy and stressful life these days, we should make sure that we have some time for our family members and friends. I believe that the communication over social networking sites is very different from face-to-face interaction. Online communication is affecting the way we interact with people and the type of relationships we make. It is also killing our ability to build strong relationships with people. Anyone who wants to bring a positive change in their life should try a cup of tea and an entertaining film with your loved ones. I reckon it will do wonders.

CUE CARD – Describe a time when you missed an appointment

Speaking – Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe something you received for free
You should say:

    • When and where did it happen ?
    • What was the appointment for ?
    • What happened when you missed it ?
    • And, explain how you felt about the appointment.
Sample Answer

Skilled people work with appointments. If you approach anyone without a prior appointment, you may be disappointed. But sometimes, there are circumstances that cause you to miss a scheduled appointment. Today, I would be mentioning a time when I missed a very important appointment. After completing my graduation, I was looking for a relevant job to bear my expenses. I searched for various jobs on online portals. I luckily found one and immediately applied for the same. The next day, I received a call from HR. She explained the selection process to get hired. I will have to clear two hiring rounds, a telephonic round and a face-to-face interview. I passed the telephonic round and was qualified to appear for the final round. The HR sent me the details about the timings and the venue. I was excited and confident about the interview. To avoid inconvenience, I left the house on time and was constantly on pins and needles. While commuting to the office, I got stuck in the tiring traffic congestion. I was getting this feeling that I would not be late and would reach the place on time. I tried contacting the manager to inform her about the situation, but I dropped the plan assuming it would not leave a good impression on her. After a while, traffic got cleared, and I took a sigh of relief. The moment I reached the address, I quickly rushed into the office but was half an hour late; on top of it, I had left my credentials at home. I felt horrible and somehow managed to control my tears. I was scared but kept my fingers crossed. The HR was not in a good mood and did not agree to proceed further with my interview. I tried to explain my situation but could not convince HR. That day, I learned an important lesson: if you want your time to be considered, you must respect others’ time. Being aware of the traffic problem in my city, I could have left my home early to prevent being late. Another lapse I committed was being reckless by getting over-excited. That resulted in leaving my credentials at home. That was one of the worst incidents I have encountered because of my negligence.

 Speaking- Partt 3 (Follo-upp questions)

In India, people have many events to celebrate. For instance, birthdays, anniversaries, and marriages. There are some instances when they forget some events like meetings, appointments, and even birthdays.

I reckon it is good to use electronic devices for setting reminders. In this modern era, where people are busy with their hectic schedules, they often forget things, and taking help from technology can be helpful. However, depending upon it, it will not be prudent

Q3. How can modern technology help you keep good memories?

Modern technology has proven to help keep our memories safe. Now, we have access to various storage options like Google Drive, iCloud, Pendrive, and many more. By taking help from these technologies, one can keep intact their special memories and can set a reminder for special events.
