Computers Replacing Teachers # Essay For IELTS

With the advancement in technology, the number of computers being used in the field of education has increased. Some people believe that there will be no role of teachers in the classroom. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

SAMPLE ANSWER

There is no doubt that with the advent of computers, the education system and the learning procedure have seen some major changes. Gone are the days of searching through books and making notes on a notebook, we are in an era where every information is just a click away. However, in my opinion, the role of teachers in a student’s life cannot be overshadowed by any technology; it might change but not disappear completely.
Nobody can argue that computers have made learning more interactive, fun and easy. The mere activity of touching and exploring this device constitutes an enjoyable task for a kid. This accompanied with a relaxing environment, interactive software, usually conduce to better grasping of knowledge. For instance, a student learning or cramming the functioning of heart and referring to the 2 D diagrams is less likely to remember a concept than a student who is watching exactly what is happening through videos.
Furthermore, at higher educational level; the online resources such as open universities offering free courses, provide them with an ever accessible source of information, that otherwise would not be at hand.
But, besides the great advantages software offers, the need of human interaction will always be present, at least in the foreseeable future. There is a necessity for a human being to be able to determine what the specifics needs of each individual are. The expertise of a teacher in how to explain and adapt complex concepts to different individuals can hardly be mimicked by a computer, no matter how sophisticated its software is.
To summarize, in my opinion, teachers play and will play a very important role in the classroom, especially at the primary level. The only thing possible is to change how teachers interact, replacing them completely can dampen the education system, no matter how sophisticated the software be.

International Sporting Events # Essay For IELTS

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.
Popular events like the football world cup and other international events are helpful in easing out tension between countries and releasing patriotic emotions in safe way. Discuss.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Every four years, the world stops to watch international sporting events such as football world cup or Olympics in which athletes show their best performance to make their country proud of them. These sporting events have proved to be essential in easing out international tension in difficult times when world powers were trying to bring peace while local governments were fighting over land. In my opinion, although international events bring nations together, they also have seen their dark days.
Looking at the positive side, the best example of such events are the world cups which tends to bring nations together, at least temporally. For instance, the cricket matches between Pakistan and other countries, especially India, allow people to forget the differences and compete pacifically and even embrace each other after an event.
Similarly, international sporting events show benefits in some developing countries which live in daily internal civil war. For example, Brazil has a high rate of unemployment, lack of education, hunger, crime, corruption which leads to immense embarrassment amongst Brazilians. However, when the football world cup starts, the Brazilian squad, which is considered the best team in the world, provokes an amazing feeling of pride in their country. It brings families, neighbors together and even rival gangs watch the game and celebrate peacefully.
Turning to the negative sides, such games have also been witness of racial discrimination and other frauds. When such events come into light, they tend to hurt the emotions of a group of people internationally, sometimes even worsening the situations.
In conclusion, sports have always been a great way to ease out tension and bring harmony. But, it must be taken care that the message being sent out during such games is right and of peace.

Effect Of Social Media

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

Many people believe that effect of social media on both individuals and society has been negative. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Social networking sites, for instance Instagram, facebook, are thought by some to have had a detrimental effect on individual people as well as society and local communities. However, in my opinion, while I believe that such sites could prove to be beneficial to people, have turned out to have a larger negative impact.

With regards to individuals, social media has had a mixed impact on each individual. Let us begin by looking at some of the positives of social media. Firstly, people of different countries are brought together through sites such as facebook whereas before the development of technology, people were limited to their intermediate circle. Secondly, it allows room for interaction amongst like minded people. For example, people often create communities like writer’s or technician wherein they can share the information, useful for all.

Turning to the other side of the argument, social media also had its negative effects. The most common being the fact that people are more likely to interact with their peers online rather than building real life relationships. Furthermore, society is becoming increasingly disjointed and fragmented as people spend more and more time online with people they have never met face to face and who they are unlikely to meet in the future.

Overall, although social media has brought people together, it also has in some sense created unseen differences. The only possible way to get the best out of it is travel the middle way.
