writing essay task 2 about mobile phones and social interaction

Sample Answer:

Mobile communication has become ingrained in our modern society as not only a necessity but also as a force of habit. When required to establish communication with a person, most of us would prefer to do it online. For good reasons too, we get to plan our responses better, as well as be in a comfortable environment and have a sense of control over the length of the interaction. Essentially, we remain in our comfort zones.

Whether or not this is destroying social interaction as a whole is open for debate. Where some say it helps in dealing with anxiety, others question the outright aversion phenomenon it has given rise to. My personal opinion on the same stands somewhere in the middle.

While I feel that we are indeed losing the touch of the art of social interplay, it is within reason to assume this was inevitable, as seen by the rise in far more casual exchanges with our superiors and elders. This is, however, no excuse for the careless use of devices to actively be rudely preoccupied in actual dialogue or for utilising devices to avoid them altogether. While face-to-face interactions might seem to be a far more daunting task, they are oftentimes equally rewarding. It is far easier to persuade people in person than it is through a screen, hence why sales employees are still present and thriving in a world threatened by automation.

Whatever one might say, one has to admit that physical association is simply inescapable. One will have to get out and interact with peers eventually. Hence, I would conclude by saying that both means of communication have their own perks, and thus neither is a threat to the other. Mobiles will continue to act as personal messengers, and humans will continue to interact socially, be it through the medium of a screen or otherwise. As long as etiquette is maintained in mobile usage, there is no threat to public communication.

Academic Writing Task: Some people believe that schools should be allowed to evaluate and criticize their teachers

Academic Writing Task-2
Question: Some people believe that schools should be allowed to evaluate and criticize their teachers to improve the quality of education. Others think this is disrespectful to teachers. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Sample Answer:

Assessment of teachers plays a crucial role in improving the quality of education. Few folks reckon that learners should have the privilege to closely evaluate the class performance of teachers and come up with valuable feedback. However, others are against this notion and feel this practice to be quite disrespectful to teachers. This essay will discuss both sides of the argument and state my opinion in the forthcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, teachers indeed get a lot of benefits when learners assess them. Primarily, tutors have an opportunity to know how well the students can understand the lectures delivered to them and can make possible changes to the teaching methods to meet student demands. Subsequently, teachers who do not have acceptable ways of teaching can be given proper training. Furthermore, questionnaire usage for the same purpose without asking students to write their names on it will not hinder them from sharing feedback because they might feel scared to answer the same questions verbally.
On the other hand, opponents contemplate that giving learners the authority to evaluate teachers can have some adverse impacts. First and foremost, it can harm the teacher-student relationship as many pupils would use this situation to vent their frustration. Also, it is not an appropriate way to judge tutors since opinions vary from student to student. Apart from this, teachers feel that their efforts are not valued, and, as a result, their confidence levels are affected as they are always open to criticism.
To recapitulate, I believe that learners should contribute to teacher assessment, but, simultaneously, their feedback should be the only deciding factor for teacher performance. Instead, school or college management can use some other ways of teacher evaluation.

Academic Writing Task: business meetings are being conducted online rather than person to person.

Academic Writing Task-1
Question: More business meetings are being conducted online rather than person to person. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend?

Sample Answer:

There is no denying the fact that technology has completely upended our lives. We live in a world where more people communicate with each other via technology than person to person. And business meetings are not immune to this trend. This has both positive and negative aspects, and I will discuss them in the subsequent paragraphs with relevant examples.
To begin with, there are many benefits of exploiting technology to its fullest and people around the world have benefitted tremendously from such modern marvels. Firstly, people can work from anywhere around the world and do not need to be physically present at a particular place. During a meeting they can share the updates and review the data at the click of the button. Secondly, it is of particular significance to people who are unable to travel to office like sick people and pregnant women. Thirdly, it has been found that people are more productive and participate in online meetings more enthusiastically as typically these meetings involve people from higher management. For example, a company I used to work for would have the General Manager among the audience most of the times. As he was based abroad and would rarely visit our office, online meetings made it possible to get in touch with him directly and to keep him in the loop.
There are many disadvantages, however, of online meetings as well. Many people claim that they are unable to present their views adequately, and find it bit inconvenient to meet online. They miss the human touch and the camaraderie between the employees when they choose to meet virtually. Moreover, meetings are not only about business but it also develops a sense of community among the employees. With this significant part missing from their work life, they tend to drift apart from their colleagues.
While I believe technology is the way forward and we cannot shun it altogether, meeting online should be an option we should use sparingly. Completely abandoning meeting in person and using only technology would perhaps not have the desired consequences on either the employees or the company in the long run. (354 words)

IELTS Essay : Restoration of old buildings involves enormous expenditure

Restoration of old buildings involves enormous expenditure. Some people believe that this money should be used for building new housing structures. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer:

Development of a country depends on its quality of infrastructure. It is often believed that finances should be contributed towards the latest construction of brand new buildings, rather than renovation of old  places. I will discuss this notion in impending paragraphs and would reach on a valid conclusion

Beginning with, money should be given towards the new structure because of its modernised features. Many individuals want to upgrade their quality of living which is closely associated with the luxury one can afford, which is why people invest in construction of new spaces. Furthermore, these practical features also ensure safety within a space. Modern day kitchen chimneys, stabilisers, fire alarms are a good example of advanced technology that protects one from accidents. To put it clearly, modern time homes are much needed due to the evolution of technology. Also, we cannot neglect that structures such as apartments can accommodate an increasing population.

Alternatively, renovation of a building should be done as it holds cultural and emotional sentiments of a community. Many ancient temples, all over the globe, are not demolished despite its withering condition. Moreover, these places can earn a good revenue, if turned into a tourist spot. Hence, it will not cost a fortune from public funds, and would act as a source of a rising economy. One lucid illustration of this is palaces of Rajasthan, India. The palace owners have integrated with world renowned hotel changes in order to offer royal experience to an individual in return for money. Adding to this, people will have an example of old construction and would be aware of the past.

To conclude, I hold a mixed opinion on this notion because while new establishments will have modern features, we can also not deny that old properties will have emotions attached to it.
