ANSWER: I believe that kindness is the language of the heart and the greatest wisdom. One of the kindest persons I have met in my life is my mentor, Dr Darshana Joshi. She is the founder of the non-government organisation named Vigyanshala International. The organisation is devoted to empowering women in science and technology. They have done significant work in promoting gender equality.

I met her during a recent workshop in Champawat, a small district in Uttarakhand. During that workshop, I had the opportunity to have a close one-on-one conversation on my career plans. I was completely stunned by her patience, tailored guidance and politeness. She strongly influenced my perspective of reaching heights and still staying grounded. The discussion with her felt calmer as she gave me a space to share my thoughts and listened carefully. Even though it was our first interaction, she was very kind to me. In fact, she asked me to stay connected further. Having known her for quite a while now, I can say that she possesses many qualities that one can admire. For me, it is the kindness she carries.

As an individual, I think she is smart with great leading abilities. She values human relations and giving back to society. She is an optimistic person with a mindset that favours growth. I believe she is a kind-hearted person because regardless of the success she has achieved in her life, she never speaks highly of herself. However, she encourages young minds to dream big and achieve their highest potential. I always appreciate her efforts and am grateful for having her in my life.

Describe your experience of a beautiful place you visited in your country.

Answer: I am really fond of travelling to new places. One of my most cherished visits was to Kerala. I went there with my family during my class 10th summer vacations. Kerala lies in the southern part of the Indian subcontinent. It is one of the most beautiful states in India. It is popularly named as “God’s own land” due to its breathtaking natural beauty.

I went there by a flight from Delhi, which was around 3 hrs long. This was the most thrilling part of the journey, as it was my first experience of travelling by air. Our plane landed in Kochi, a popular port city. We explored the city during the daytime and then went to Alleppy, a nearby town, for an overnight stay.

The place is renowned for its beauty bestomed by backwaters. We planned to spend the night in the boathouse, which itself was a unique experience. We were provided with a delicious meal completely cooked in coconut oil. Next day we travelled to Allepuza, another city in Kerala. That day we visited two ancient temples and went to the local market that gave me a glimpse of local culture.

This tour was filled with great adventures and learnings. I was immensely soaked in the beauty of this state, culture and people. I felt really happy and enjoyed my whole journey.

ANSWER- Different individuals like different parts of their days. Some prefer early mornings while others enjoy the late nights. These preferences, I believe, arise from their day-to-day routines.

Personally, I really like evenings the most, as I feel more energetic during that time. In the evenings, I get most of the time for myself, which I tend to use for self-improvement. During the weekdays, I am particularly focused on enhancing my creativity and knowledge. I indulge myself in painting drawings and reading books to learn new words. While on the weekends, I try to spend time with my family. This is because during the weekdays, I am usually occupied with my own work. We spend our time together by playing team games such as table tennis or dining out for a lovely chat.

These activities help in my overall emotional well-being by supporting my ability to manage stress and reflect upon myself. Not only this, it also gives me a chance to work on my intellectual development and physical fitness, all at the same time. Therefore, evenings are my favourite.

Answer: One family member I am very interested in is my aunt, who works in the field of brain cancer research in the United States. I have admired her since childhood, as she has always been extremely compassionate, dedicated and hard-working. Even though her journey was never linear, she always stood up to combat every challenge that came in her way.

Whenever she visits India or talks to us via video call, she shares interesting facts about her own research work and studies. I’ve personally learnt a lot more about certain scientific discoveries and advancements which are being implemented in heathcare sector to treat rare diseases.

The most fascinating thing about her own work is its impact on diagnosis, treatment and drug discovery for brain tumours.

Apart from her professional achievements, she’s a very kind individual by heart and always supports me for my future endeavors. All her qualities, vision and path have been my biggest inspirations. During to which, I see her as my role model. I always look up to her in all my setbacks and hope to contribute significantly in the scientific research to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Therefore, I am and will be always proud of her.
