Well, I am someone who loves to play sports and so today, I would like to throw some light on one of my favorite places where I love to play. The place is a park named as Ramsay’s, and is just a minute’s distance away from my house. The park is quite big and includes amenities for all sorts of age groups.

I first went their with my father when I was ten years old, as the city was new for me. Ever since then, it became more of a daily ritual to go there and sometimes I used to go there alone as well, just so as to enjoy with friends which I made there itself. Every evening at 5.00, I used to go there and play myriad of games with my friends who were mostly residing in the colony. I used to play volleyball, hide and seek and many other sports. Since the park was huge, old people used to stroll around the park, meanwhile young boys play football and basketball.

To be very honest, I have very fond memories attached to my childhood days, and if I ever get a chance to relive those days, I would certainly do that without giving it a second thought. The park is still there and is quite popular among people as everyone goes there to enjoy and play sports.

Thus, this is a popular place for sports.

CUE CARD – Describe an advertisement you do not like.

Speaking -Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe an advertisement you do not like.

You should say:

    • When did you see it?
    • What it is about?
    • Where you saw it/how you came to know about it?
    • Why you did not like it?
Sample Answer

There are a lot of advertisements which I watch in my daily life. But today I would like to talk about an advertisement which I do not like. It is a face cream, which somehow manages to promote the unreal beauty standards in the society. I saw it for the very first time when I was watching a movie on television and had a short break of five minutes. The cream was named fair and lovely, which sounded really messed up to me, as it convinced many young girls to adopt irrelevant beauty standards in order to seek validation and feel accepted by the society.
I personally did not like it because it was really disturbing for me to watch young girls purchasing it, just so that they can look fairer, depriving them of their natural skin color and adding on to the unrealistic beauty standards. This advertisement somehow promotes the idea of perfect beauty, which ofcourse is a myth.

Therefore, this is an advertisement I do not like and support.

I was very much stressed, as I have never done any such research before. So, I seek help from my seniors who were then in the final year of the college. One of my seniors named Shreya then introduced me to the website where I was actually able to find a lot about the different words, their meanings , followed by synonyms and antonyms.

The website was quite helpful in my research, as it helped me with the names and pronounciation of certain words around which my research revolved. It was because of that, I was actually able to complete my thesis before time, and not only that, I also recieved high grade in my research, for which I was presented with  a fellowship of 5000 Rupees. Sample Answer

In the name of globalisation and development, we have somehow managed to ruin our natural habitat by exploiting resources. As a result of this, the levels of pollution has increased drastically. Today, I would like to shed some light on one of the world’s most polluted cities, Delhi.

I went there few years back, when I was in my final year of graduation. My bosom friend, Riya who was then my roommate took me there to shop for her sister’s wedding. It was a three day stay, we booked a hotel in advance.

The thing which startled me the most was the air. The moment we reached there, the air was so much polluted that one could clearly make out the difference. The city had tall apartments, industries and high rise buildings which all came at the cost of natural environment. The air pollution is predominantly due to the smoke from the vehicles which comes as a result of burning petroleum or diesel. The expulsion of these harmful gases in the air from the factories or industries is what is responsible for the bad air. The levels of oxygen has decreased in the air whereas the rise in the carbon monoxide and other nitrogenous gases is particularly responsible for the severe health concerns like, breathing problems such as asthma, bronchitis and skin allergy and irritation followed by acute migrane. Initial few days I was sick, but then with consistent medication i was finally able to get back on my feet. It was only then, that I was finally able to go for shopping for the wedding.

Therefore, this was a place where there was a lot of pollution.
