Sample Answer

Dear Asha,

I hope you are doing well. It has been ages since I wrote to you. I was very busy with my board examinations. It is a big step towards my future. It seems to me as if the whole world is gearing up for a new beginning with unexpectedly surprising measures.

As for India, we are all demonetizing our ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes to battle black money. The expected amount to be ‘found’ is around £200 Billion GBP. Just take a moment to soak that all in. This is a gigantic move for India as sadly there is a lot of bribery and black money handling. Heck, every single person in India could be a mini millionaire if all of its wealth were to be distributed equally among its citizens.

Honestly, from my point of view the situation is pretty hilarious. As just yesterday people were trying to rake in as much money as possible, the bigger notes the better. And just in a matter of hours people went from gazing lovingly to simply hostilely glaring at bundles of money. Don’t you think all this is very humorous too?

But enough about my country, what about you? How do you feel about Donald Trump being elected? What new and unexpected things do you think will happen next?

Your buddy,
Diksha Ramola

IELTS Cue Card # Describe your favorite way to relax.

IELTS Speaking Task Cue Card

Describe your favorite way to relax.

  • What it is?
  • How effective it is for you?
  • When and how you relax?

and explain why you like this way of relaxation.

SAMPLE ANSWER-

Today, in this mechanized world, workload can make us feel a little relentless. For this reason taking leisure time for oneself is extremely crucial. Due to different interests of most of the people, they prefer to indulge themselves in various sort of hobbies. Here, I would want to talk about gardening, which is the most effective way to relax for me.

Time spent gardening helps calm my mind, soothes ragged emotions and boost my ability to focus on the positive aspects of life. The sound of creatures present in the garden helps me detach from everyday agony and contemplate on the present moment for the time being. Though it is said to be an orthodox mode of relaxing, it’s can be really soothing if it interests you. Gardening is considered as the best way for therapy in several western countries as well.

I was lucky enough to live in a place with a garden of our own. Since my childhood, interrupting my parents while they were gardening fascinated me. Soon this habit developed into a hobby. Whenever I don’t feel like myself, I visit a nursery to get plants to renovate my garden. The fragrance of the freshly watered plants eliminates my tension.

The reason why I like this way of relaxation is that I can leave life related issues outside the garden. Gardening also helps reduce cortisol in my body as we are in peaceful company of nature. The sound of butterflies and birdsong, the color of leaves, and the aroma of flowers are captivating for me and it refreshes my mind greatly.

IELTS Essay # more people choose to live on their own

IELTS Essay more people choose to live on their own

In modern societies, more and more people choose to live on their own.
What are the reasons people choose to do this?
Is it a positive or negative trend?

Sample Answer

In today’s world people are more likely to live alone as they feel independent in doing so. The concept of joint family had plummeted in this modern world. In my point of view this is a negative trend which can lead to isolation and also create problems later in life.

There are different reasons why people choose to live on their own. One reason can be that it offers people liberating experiences of life. They can live their life completely on their own terms without any interruptions. This type of independence is not possible when they are living with a family or a partner. There are no restrictions when people live alone, they can do whatever they want to.
Another reason can be that people want to be self reliant, they don’t want to be financially or emotionally dependent on someone. They want to bear their own experience and be confident about life.

Living alone is having a negative impact on the future generations. There are serious problems arising from this trend such as depression. For instance, people are spending majority of their time alone at home and lack social values. Such kind of isolation is not healthy and can sometimes lead to depression and anxiety. Apart from this, there are day to day problems that occurs in one’s life when they live alone. Such as, there is no one to help while doing daily chores, it has to be done alone. Also there is lack of safety when an individual lives alone.

In conclusion, although it has become more popular among young generation to live alone, it is complicating the idea socialisation. It is creating a dis balance in the social construct hence it should not be encouraged. (289 words)

Sample Answer:

The line graph provides information about the amount of money which was earned monthly by four restaurants in a city in 2010.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there were considerable upwards trends in the income of Delicacy, Evening paradise and Grand Fiesta, while the earnings of Spicy Fortune witnessed a considerable fall over the year. Another interesting point is that Spicy Fortune was the most popular restaurant in January, but in December, Evening Paradise earned more money than the others.
Looking at the details, in January 2010, Spicy Fortune was the biggest earner with a monthly income of almost $160,000. In the following months, its earnings first fluctuated and then declined steadily before ending at nearly $50,000 in December.
In contrast, the monthly incomes of other three restaurants went up by varying degrees. There was a rise in Delicacy’s earnings over the first ten months, followed by a sudden increase to $120,000 in December. Grand Fiesta and Evening Paradise started with significantly different figures in January, about $100,000 and $50,000, respectively. The former experienced a steady fall until June, but after that, income rose significantly to just under $140,000 in December. Likewise, the trend for Evening Paradise was upward. From January to July, earnings doubled from about $50,000 to nearly $100,000 and ended the year with the highest income of around $190,000.
