IELTS Essay Sample Questions # Globally English

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

The advantage provided by English as a global language will continue to outweigh the disadvantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

You should write at least 250 words.

The world has shrunk to a button in the 21st century, where almost everything is possible just by the click of that button. With the world coming closer and communicating together, globally English has emerged as a global language. With this emergence, there are many who believe that it has left a lot of cultures in a hay stray while others believe it brings more opportunities for every individual. In my opinion, the presence of a global language will always bring more benefits than having multiple of them.

English is in present, the primarily spoken language in most parts of the world, as a result of either colonization or their own dialect. All the countries that have been part of colonization have now in their culture an ingrained touch of English. This makes English the first choice in case of Global language. Even more, the big market players in the present society are mostly people from English states. For example, Google, Facebook, Canon, Apple, and many others. Having English as the Global Language allows people to interact with a bigger set of organization and expand their networking.

However, making English a Global Language has impacted various of cultures across the world. There are many local languages that are dying because people have stopped speaking them altogether. With the language gone, there are fewer chances of the culture being present. With this, we are all moving towards the existence of just one culture, which probably will end up making life boring for all. Even more, with competition, people often look at those who cannot speak English in a low light.

Overall, making English a global language is the easiest and best way to make the world communicate better. However, we need to ensure a global language must not hijack the existence of the other cultures and languages.

IELTS Speaking Part I Sample Questions # Toy

Growing up is the most beautiful thing about life because when you grow up you start understanding things in a more beautiful way. However, we still cherish our childhood as the best part of our lives. This time we are looking at something without which our childhood can never be complete, toys.

Did you like toys as a child?

As a child, when everyone else was fascinated by toys, I preferred playing with my friends rather than toys. Yes, I did like toys but not to an extent where I could spend my days with the toy.

What was your favorite toy?

Growing up Barbie has been one of the most sought after toy of our generation and I was no exception to it. I loved Barbie and the little amazing thing called Barbie house. I remember a friend of mine had the largest collection of Barbie and Barbie houses. We friends would go to her house and play with them. Dress the barbie for a party and so much more!

Should parents buy many toys for their children?

Toys surely are important for children but I think parents must focus more on getting sports equipment for their children rather than toys. Learning a sport teaches so much more to a child than a toy can ever do. A sport offers a child learnings like a team player, leadership, focus, patience, hard work and so much more! Or probably some other artistic form like guitar or painting. For a child, it is important that he or she works on his or her extracurricular activities more than anything else.

What are the benefits of children playing with toys?

Toys have an impact on children like no other thing. A baby is curious to learn about the world around them and they have so much to learn. Every new shape and color and the voice teach a lot of things to the infants. Different contrasting colors develop the vision and toys like building blocks help in hand-eye coordination. Growing up there are toys like letters and the one on language skills, that help a child in improving more.

What are the disadvantages of children playing with toys?

Toys do make children learn a lot of things but in turn having less number of toys is more beneficial than having lots of them. With fewer toys, a child learns to use his or her imagination to make games.Children with fewer toys establish better social skills. They learn how to share and develop a greater love for reading, writing, and art. Also, a child with fewer toys is more likely to be less selfish because he or she knows that they are not getting everything!

IELTS Speaking Part I Questions # Visiting Home

Human is a social animal and likes to mingle with people. There are a lot of friends and acquaintances that we make and do visit their homes in the tenure of relationships that we form. This time we are looking into some Part I questions related to visiting homes of our loved ones.

Do you often invite friends to visit your home?

I am a working professional and the few friends that I do have in the city, the invitation is never very formal for the friends that I have. It is more like having a common interest and doing it at either of the places. Inviting friends to come visit home is not a common thing that I do, more often because we stay together for the most part in the office.

Do you like visitors coming to your home?

I do love people coming to my home and meeting but only to an extent where I don’t find any hindrance in my daily routine. For example, someone coming at 6’o clock in the morning could be sometimes irritating especially when done regularly. Also, there are few people who are close to my heart, I don’t bother much about their coming and visiting often, but I prefer fewer acquaintances visiting home.

How often do visitors come to your home?

Well, most of the friends that I have made are men and the place where I am presently living does not allow men in the house. So, we don’t have much of visitors in the house. But, yes sometimes when it is a special occasion people do come in and we celebrate together.

Do you prefer to have friends visit you or relatives?

I like friends more because there is a comfort zone with friends that I do not find in relatives. Friends know us more and there is nothing to pretend. With relatives, there are basic etiquettes to be maintained and be the host. With friends it is more like, it is their home as well, so less of formalities. However, with anyone visiting it is always a change, something I do prefer.

What do you usually do together with your visitors?

Most of the times we go out travel and explore the city. I remember, last time when a friend of mine came to visit me, we went to Konark temple and had lots of fun there. Other times, we sit down at home only, cook good food and spend quality time. So, it is mostly a mix bag of both, travelling and laying back.

When someone visits you, how do you show hospitality?

It depends on the time till they have come. If it is the small visit of few hours, I usually ensure they get to eat good and have a good time, talking together. But, if they are staying back for few days, I ensure they get good food and nice sleep. More importantly, make sure they do get to visit the place I am living in. I ensure they don’t have a problem commuting in the city and take back home some memories to cherish.

IELTS Marry Ghaziabad

I have been quite sceptical about marriages for a long period of time until a very close friend of mine got married. Today I am going to talk about her marriage. There are very few close comrades that I have but out of them, a special friend of mine got married last year. It was an arranged marriage and to me it felt like the biggest mistake she has done! Her husband is a techie and she is a travel blogger. I felt she will have to compromise on her career to ensure her relationship works fine.

I met here a few months back, to know that her husband is completely supportive of her career and respects her choices. She told me about an incident where she had got a big assignment and it collided with the marriage of an important person in their family. Her husband, without informing her, told everyone in the family that they would not be able to make it because of his work priorities. For me it was a beautiful gesture.

It has only been a year and I have met the guy just a few times but we have become really good friends in the short course of time. It feels more like a family and I really love them as a couple. The one thing that I believe makes their marriage work, is irrespective of the differences they have, they respect each other and their choices. The fact that no one is forcing oneself on others, I believe makes them the best couple I have ever met.
