SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Lavanya,
I am sorry I haven’t written for so long. After the holidays, the work pressure was so high that I never had a minute to myself. I am writing to thank you for the fantastic holiday that you made possible.

It was a long time since we stayed together and living at your house was a perfect retreat to our old times. Going to the same places we went when we were young and meeting those people was simply fantastic. I am still missing the 2 o clock ice cream and the long walks near the beach, outside your house. There was so much that you did to make this holiday memorable and I appreciate every bit of it. Memories of the taylor swift concert that we went and the open fire campaign keep coming back in my mind and make me smile.

And I must tell you, your house is simply beautiful and you have kept it in a way that makes it more amazing to live in. I really loved your bedroom and the drawing room, especially because of the lovely candles and the perfect photos you have hung there. I think words will be less to describe how amazing the trip was and how much I am missing those times.

I have recieved the photos few days back and I am sending them along with this letter. I hope you will love them.

With love,
Anmol.

Issues In Online Delivery # Letter For IELTS

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.
You recently ordered a phone online and had issues in online delivery. When the order came it was not complete.
Write a letter to the company. In your letter –
– explain what you ordered and what were the things missing.
– explain the importance of this delivery.
– ask for a replacement.

Write at least 150 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the delivery services of your company. The reason of this belief is the issues faced by me with the last order that I made.

20 days back, I ordered a phone on your online site, during the mega sale of electronics. It was a HTC 626 g+ desire worth Rs. 130000 and the transaction was completed successfully using debit card. Three days ago, the order arrived and when I opened it, there was no phone in it. It had a box with charger, head phones and other documents. To add insult to my injury, when I asked the courier boy to take the order back, he said, it was not his responsibility and I need to contact you.

Ten days later, I need to go to Australia for an assignment and require the phone immediately. The ideal solution would be that you replace the order and send me the same phone as soon as possible. If that is not possible, inform me of your inability to deliver the phone before 10 days.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,
Anmol.

Problem With Writing # IELTS

Most of the students score fairly well in the listening and the reading section but face problem with writing section making their overall band less than the required one. But then how is it possible that someone working right in the other section of IELTS is lacking simply in writing. After all, all the other sections also require English skills.
Well, most of the students make mistake in writing because of the following reasons –

1. They start writing without thinking about the topic. Yes, most of the students assume that 40 minutes or 20 minutes is very less and you need to start writing as soon as you read the question ( in some worse cases students merely skim the question). This results in answers that are not only lacking ideas but coherence as well.

2. Some students don’t develop on their ideas. This is next major issue. Their is a common belief among students that in the writing task of IELTS you are being checked on your ideas and more the number of ideas, more you will score. But the fact is, you are not checked on the number of ideas you write. You are marked on how well you elaborate the ideas. Do you give examples with them or not?

3. The other problem with IELTS writing is that some students don’t plan their essays well. As in , which information will come first and which will go at last. What is the conclusion, beginning and what is going to come in body paragraph.
So, if you are lacking in writing section of IELTS, avoid the above mistakes and I am sure you will score high in writing.

Collocations # Grammar For IELTS

Collocations Grammar For IELTS

Collocations are one of the most important thing you must aim at learning if you want to score high in IELTS. But, what are they?
Collocations are two or more words that go together or are used together in a way that sound correct to the native speaker. Let us look at some examples –

Collocations
early days
even numbers
evenly matched
take a break
take a look
travel light
turn a corner

Learning something when you don’t know its importance is weird and difficult. So, let us find out why should you learn collocations?
Collocations make your language more understandable to understand making you more fluent at what you speak. It also makes you sound more natural. Collocations provide you with alternative and better ways to express yourself, resulting in a high score band in IELTS or for that matter of fact any english testing exam. And the most important part is Learning vocabulary becomes easier with collocations. This is because it is more easier for our brain to learn chunks of words rather than single words.

KINDS OF COLLOCATIONS

Collocations are of the following type-
adverb + adjective: completely satisfied
adjective + noun: excruciating pain
noun + noun: a surge of anger
noun + verb: lions roar
verb + noun: commit suicide ‘
verb + expression with preposition: burst into tears
verb + adverb: wave frantically
So, don’t just learn words, learn chunks of words, so that you not only know the word but also have a good command over how to use the word.

IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT COLLOCATIONS

1. Try to notice collocations whenever you read something.
2. Make sure you regard the collocation as one single block. For example -top priority is one single word, it is not top + priority.
3. There are two ways of learning collocations. Either you learn them topic wise or word wise. Like, either leara collocations related to weather( or any other topic) together or you can go for all the collocations with “take” together.
So, if you want to improve your vocabulary or spoken english, the first thing you must aim for is learning collocations. Go, get a good grasp over them and score high in IELTS.
